I’ve bought a couple the past few years from Donalson Toyota in SETX. Small dealership but made a good solid deal that I was comfortable with.

Yep. I have a couple of guys up here in Ouachita parish that I can 'halfway' trust and will be corresponding with them with an eagle eye in the process

The worst of the worst is the F&I person. Next to the GM and the owners, these clowns are the highest paid in a dealership/car lot. They are the closet a person can get to an OT baller.

After you get a final price(documented with all fees plainly notated), this is where they start/try to put the 'pencil' to you.

He/she sits in their nice office with their hair all slicked back with their pearly white teeth, their fake Rolex watch and 7 gold chains thinking how they can scam another sucker so they can take their babies-momma /daddy on a cruise next week with their big fat commission they will make off another sucker.

The F&I office is where a dealer/car lot makes most of their $$$.

This is why potential buyers need to do their homework before even thinking about calling or emailing a place about a vehicle.

BTW, please keep those recommendations coming. I am sure others are getting some good info.

All Star Toyota’s new ownership team seems to be great. They had a Tundra in stock that had the specs I wanted. Told them what price I wanted to be at 11% off MSRP and no dealer adds. They agreed to that price over the phone - told them I couldn’t make it over there for a day or two with my schedule.

No deposit, they blocked the car as sold in the system and I went over there when I had time. Told the sales manager I wasn’t buying any of the add ons and I was done in finance office with 25 min.

Was the most pleasant experience I’ve had buying a car locally.

Even living in South Louisiana, we bought from Van Trow for decades. Our salesman retired, though.

Do they still give "country sausage" to everyone who buys a new car?

Nothing against them. They didn’t have what I was looking for. I actually use LeBlanc for the service on my LC 100.

I tried to buy a 4Runner from All Star about 10 years ago and wrote all the McKay dealerships off. Was your typical negative sales experience,

I’ve helped my mother buy a couple of cars from Lexus. Told the guy up front we didn’t want any of the stuff. He said that’s fine, but I have to go over it with you. He zipped through it with no pressure. Very pleasant.

But my last Toyota purchase, the guy was like, “Next is the silver package.” I said, “We don’t want it.” He, almost crying, “But I haven’t even told you how much it costs!” I said I didn’t want any of it at any price. He sulked his way through the rest of it.

I went through them. Did everything online. Went the next day, signed the papers and out the door within 10 minutes

We drove today from Watson, LA to Toyota of Katy, TX to pick up Grand Highlander. Easy to deal with online and got exactly what we were looking for. Purchased while it was in transit to dealer.

Lake Charles Toyota. I've bought several cars and trucks from them. Great service and family oriented.
