re: Legit Toyota dealers in Louisiana

Look at Houston and Dallas for much better pricing. Basically, a dealership’s goal is to be the lowest priced in a particular area so if there is only one Toyota dealer in let’s say Shreveport, there’s no reason for them be competitive with their prices.
Last 4 cars we’ve bought have been from Dallas. One-way flight for maybe $200 and drive the car back.

Up here in NELA, they are pretty pathetic
The only one I have dealt with in NELA is Van-Trow. But I agree, they are horrible.

All Star in Baton Rouge seems to be legit. Yokem in Shreveport seems like they are pretty good.
John Harvey in Bossier is 1000x better than Yokem. Do not buy a vehicle from Yokem, they are absolutely the worst. I say this as someone who made the mistake of buying a vehicle from them.

are there any Toyota dealers reading this thread?
what say you?
Judging from some of the downvotes, prolly so. Throw in a few car/trucks salesman too
Someone mentioned F&I, man these clowns have 100 different tricks, schemes and loopholes to squeeze extra OT $$$ out of fowlkes.
FTR, I have worked in and around dealerships for many moons.
So yeah, I have seen a few things.
A few things I would throw in is to NEVER EVER sign an 'arbitration' agreement with a dealer, if something goes wrong, they most likely will have a representative that is favorable to them. IF they tell you it 'mandatory' which it is not, threaten to walk out. See how quick they change their tune.
Always negotiate the bottom-line price before anything else. And make sure it is writing with ALL fees itemized on a buyer's order.
The biggest trick they use is to get you to focus on what is the 'monthly' note/payment. FOCUS ON THE BOTTOM-LINE PRICE.
Don't discuss trade-ins, interest rates, add-ons, GAP insurance, extended warranties, until you get the 'Out-The-Door' price.
Get an interest quote from your bank/credit union and see if the F&I can beat or match it. This is where they can really put the pencil to you.
Never tell you that you are paying 'cash'. Tell them that it will be discussed until a bottom-line price is documented with ALL fees is agreed on.
*Put them on a 'time-limit' A dirty trick they use is to get a potential buyer to wait and wait, trying to wear them out or to get them to panic and sign a crappy deal. Its a POS technique to stall a potential buyer.
Tell the salesman that they have 10 minutes or you are WALKING OUT THE DOOR. See how quick they come back.
Bonus tip: buy at the end of the month, better yet, toward the end of the year. Dealers are trying to meet sales goals, bonuses, moving inventory that has been sitting idle on their lot.
Please keep those recommendations coming.
Thanks

The Toyota dealership down in Houma is awesome

Dont tell them they have one, just leave and watch them chase you to the door, where you can scold them for trying that Busch league shite.
Most car salesmen deserve to be treated like sub human shite. When you find one who actually is a decent person, stick with them.

Been lucky with that, bought most of my trucks from the same guy.
Just bought an out-of-state car, and the first dealership tried the two brothers and a stranger routine. I bailed, and they called/texted. Sent em a pic of the car I bought.

Lakeside in Metairie probably does the most volume. Maybe Price Leblanc in BR

Lakeside Toyota in Metairie beat everyone by a lot.
Agreed. We ended up with a Toyota just because Lakeside was a better dealer and didn’t play any games.
Royal Honda on veterans is appalling. I don’t know how those scam artists stay in business. $3000 markup on every vehicle (this is in 2025) and they won’t even tell you what the APR is for the financing, they just want you to sign.
Matt Bowers Hyundai was not much better.
The Mazda dealership was also crappy—“we don’t negotiate here”
Meanwhile Lakeside Toyota was ready, willing, and able to make a deal

Good. Treat them like shite. They deserve it.

I’ve had pretty good luck with Price Leblanc
I've used them for 25 years. My brother graduated w one of Price's kids. They seem to have changed in the last 5 years.
I bought my last truck w them 2 years ago. Although the truck is fine except a few minor issues- Price LeBlanc has been more and more difficult to deal with.

Recently bought a Subaru and a Mazda for my kids- both experiences were 100% better w Price. I think I'm done buying car from them.

The last time I got intercepted at the door after being made to wait for 20 minutes while he went "talk to the finance guy" (I saw him bullshitting with his buddies) I told him that since my time is 10 times more valuable than his and he saw fit to waste 20 minutes of it, he could take an additional $2000 off of my previous offer and tell me yes before I got back in my truck or id never be back again.
Very petty and childish but I dont care, it felt good. frick a car salesman.

I bought a 26 Corolla SE for commuting from Northshore Toyota in Covington almost a year ago. Still a adjustment going from a everyday driver in a Silverado to a small car. But I got lucky with the timing with gas prices, still drive my truck on weekends. Northshore has treated me right. It took me a long time to decide to buy a small car and I talked with them for awhile, but they were never pushy. Can't tell you if that is the case for the entire dealership or the specific salesman I had, but they were good to work with.

Vaughn Toyota in Bastrop. They are selling the shut out of Toyotas there
Posted on 6/12/26 at 1:36 pm to Reubaltaich
How could a Toyota seller not be legit?
They’re legitimately selling you a Toyota. Even if some dealers are more of a pain in the arse than other dealers.

Vantrow in Monroe for whatever reason never has inventory, I drove thru Ruston last weekend and Karl Malone seemed to have a decent selection.
