Looking at a possible move from BR to the Northshore for a new job. Only familiar with the area due to kid's travel soccer games. I know the OT will provide excellent advice, but I'm not looking to move somewhere and not like the types of people I will be living around and interacting with out in the world. Public schools will also play a big part in where to look at for my residence.

Public school, gotta go Mandeville. Definitely don't choose Covington for schools, but the social (restaurants/bars) is best in Covington.

We’re all full. No more houses are actually for sale.

Jk- if you’re moving from BR give it about a year and you’ll be disgusted every time you go back to BR.

To answer your question if you’re going public route - you’ll be fine pretty much anywhere in the area, people will say Covington high isn’t good but honestly it’s basically the same as Lake shore or Fontainebleau. Lots of good country folk from Folsom and Lee road all end up there. I would just check out a flood zone map when looking at houses. Not sure what your price range is or where your office is but you can practically get anywhere in 15 minutes. Traffic can be a little bit of a bitch in the afternoons but they’ve done several projects to help out over the last 5 years so it’s gotten better overall

That may fly in Livingston Parish, but that will get you no cred on the North Shore.

Don't choose Madisonville. It is a crime-ridden cesspool of crackheads and degenerates who would murder their own grandmother for drugs. Honestly, you'd be better off staying in Baton Rouge than moving to Madisonville. Baton Rouge is much safer. Also, Madisonville just entered into an agreement with the government to store nuclear waste, and they will be building a data center and a hog fat rendering plant in the town, too.

In early 2000s, I drove through and knew it was going to be the best place to raise our family. The very good parts of Louisiana without much of the bad parts, while close to extended family and far from that corporate and highway/biway ethos that comes with other “suburbs” (lived in The Woodlands, TX at the time).

Was a bulls eye. One of best decisions of our life.

Cant go wrong in any of them. We went private schools so we’re not bound by location.

Guys, please keep my town a secret. We’ve got B schools, a Costco, and a mod pizza next to the Petco.

I would stay south of I12 is my only advice. Much easier traffic to deal with in the afternoons.

Madisonville is extremely unsafe, my neighbor walks his dog without a leash!!

Sorry we are full

If you choose Madisonville by the time your kids are in high school there may be a school out here

The Northshore is shite. Move to Hammond and commute.
