Exactly this. I live off Soult St and 190. 59 traffic is horrible anytime of the day but other than that, zero complaints. I may leave Mandeville for shopping for anything "maybe" once a week if that.
Mande is a great little place to live.

People assume things and have no idea

I grew up in Lacombe and went to Slidell public schools. I went to LSU then worked in state government. I worked with a lady, Donna Collins Lewis, who could not spell her own name. A few years later she was elected to the Baton Rouge Metro Council. It was at this point I knew I had to move home. We may never be able to fix federal or state government but having an intelligent, accessible local elected official is extremely important to me.

I chose Folsom so I have some room, after living a few years in Madisonville.
In St. Tammany Parish, the local government is tolerable. The mayors are usually hometown boys who are educated and care about improving their communities. They put their cell numbers out and return phone calls. Parish and city council members are usually professionals who, like them or not, return your calls too but also have a “real job”. Sure, we have our problems with drainage and roads and infrastructure, etc. due to the population boom, but my old job took me to all 64 parishes of this state and I have yet to find one that’s better run than St. Tammany.

Education is great across the board. I had one kid go to Mandeville High, one to Covington High, and one to SSA (private girls school). Each kid is different and each one of these schools provided my kids with what they needed to be successful.

Moving home after about 12 years in the workforce after graduating LSU is the best decision I’ve ever made!

There are only maybe three other parishes I’d live in in this state. I tend to think people who rip on the Northshore on this board are jealous.

After 25 years, I found there in nothing to be jealous about on the Northshore.
All about $ and keeping up with the Jones.

Sorry but I am in the sterile cesspool all too often.

I grew up in CCC in the 70s…10 shady lane to be exact. Back then 190 was 2 lanes each way and there was nothing between Covington and Mandeville. Paradise for a kid.

When they were starting to build beau chene we would cut thru the woods and steal lumber to build our fort.

Those houses were old back then; unless there’s been a bunch of tear downs today’s young professionals are probably not going to be impressed LOL
