Maybe, maybe not.

We do know Altman is a liar and runs the company most likely to go belly up when the AI bubble crashes. So he's liable to say anything.

The singularity is absolutely in our future and it's unlikely to be a good time for humanity so let's hope he's wrong.

no doubt, now imagine those same people using AI to prepare them, instead of 100 mistakes, its 1000.

I could see the white collar work it will be replacing is stuff like the big 4 accounting firms do with new grads.

They hire a bunch of new grads to grunt out tax season, everything they do has to get approved from someone above anyway. I could see them scaling down those hires year over year if AI is useful

oh its going to take some jobs because efficiency is going to be way better. essentially someone that knows how to leverage AI to increase production by 4-5x will get those jobs like i mentioned before.

Ai wont take your job, someone that knows how to use AI will take your job.

It’ll be worse than that…all of your banking information, any pictures you have on a phone or computer, your medical information…all will be available to all. It’s about to get crazy.

Oh Elon.

Listen, dude clearly understands AI and its capabilities better than almost anyone. I know f-all what this man knows, but I know this:

1) Whatever AI or AGI provides for humanity will be finite by definition.
2) Humans are still going to be humans.
3) Humans will always strive for greater and greater chunks of finite resources.

There will be no AI/AGI facilitated reality where “money doesn’t matter”. That is a fantasy.

Well as long as they promise. They wouldn’t break it. Would they?

What about the machine that now thinks for itself? Would it break a promise? Did it promise anything in the first place?

Really don’t know why anyone could look at this and think twice. Let’s let the machines think. They’re better at that stuff anyway.

It’s the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine.

It will be good to no longer have to put up with all the gnashing of teeth and crying from the "Boomer bashers."

No way, impossible, will never happen

Agreed. Money is simply a storage for value, it's nothing more than a way to make transactions easier. If we don't have cash, we'll be using seashells or hair or land or whatever because trading things we have for things we want is basic to human nature.

I’m still waiting for the AI gloves to be off. I’m afraid all privacy laws will be by passed and you can simply ask AI about a persons post history, emails, text messages, etc. I know the government can find anything they want but imagine the public being able to look up anything anyone has done or said.

It's not like social security is projected to go to zero all the sudden. That's the year you'd start getting reduced payments if no changes are made. So maybe you'd get 75% of what they told you.

Friendly reminder that Elon and his ilk have openly advocated for the abolishment of all Intellectual Property laws whilst at the same time dumping billions of dollars into AI that can mine and catalog all available Intellectual property. They've tailored the user agreements for their associated platforms to meet this end and give their AI wholly legal ownership/use of anything uploaded to it......in perpetuity. Nevermind the fact that at the same time they all vehemently defend their own IP and will continue to do so.

ETA: And at times when they do meet legal roadblocks they just outright steal, damn any future repercussions......ask the music industry about that bit.

It would be cool, though, if the trade and barter system made somewhat of a comeback. No welfare for the lazy with that system.

That would be horrible. You think crime/theft is bad now, just wait until currency is what you have and can trade. Crime/theft will explode.

It's hard to, like, take that statement, like, seriously though.

Yep

Stability in the monetary system is absolutely essential if we're going to hold society together

I thought the singularity was the ability to upload human consciousness to a digital form.

Oh, Scam Altman. Yeah, This is probably a bit of BS so he doesn't look like a total POS.

No. It is the point where AI becomes much smarter than humans
