re: Is Jayden Daniels the BEST QB LSU has ever had? Yes…even better than Joey B?

And grant delpit won the Thorpe despite not being the best safety in the country try that year.
2019's oline allowed pressure constantly. Burrow just so happened to be the best pocket passing quarterback in college football history to counteract that.

Is LSU a championship contender this season with the 2019 defense? I think most would say yes.
Assuming that is the case, this is the argument for Daniels. He's carried the offense more, individually, than Burrow did that season. Daniels production solely as a passer is (likely) going to be comparable to 85%-90% of Burrow's production as a passer. Then you throw in that Daniels production as a RB (at least in terms of yards) will be comparable to about 75% of CEH's production as a runner. Basically Daniels has been the best QB in the SEC this year AND the second best RB. Burrow was a good runner. But he didn't have to carry anywhere close to the load Daniels has as a runner.
Daniels has played a pretty comparable (regular season) schedule.
2023 FSU is MUCH better than 2019 Texas.
2023 Ole Miss is infinitely better than 2019 Ole Miss
2023 Missouri is infinitely better than 2019 Vanderbilt
Now, 2019 Florida, Auburn and Mississippi St were better than their 2023 counterparts. I think the 2019 Alabama team was better than the 2023 version, but when it is all said and done, it probably won't be by a tremendous margin. You could probably say 2019 A&M was better. But again, not by a ton.
What will always separate Burrow is the playoff performance. Unfortunately, Daniels won't get to participate in that. But I think most would agree that is not his fault. In the end though, you can make a very strong argument (based on an apples to apples comparison of the regular season) that Daniels has been, at least, as good as Burrow was in the 2019 regular season.

No, he's not. You have to take into consideration the caliber of the competition Burrow had to face. We beat some very good teams in 2019.

Great thread topic. Novel thought

One of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen posted on this board.

To the idiot who lacks reading comprehension, and you know who you are. It is nothing like saying Jalen Hurts is better than Tom Brady because he has better legs. If Jalen could throw like Tom Brady, then yes, but maybe you are just too dumb to understand that. JD has a higher QB rating than Burrow. Maybe you are just too dumb to understand that also. Read more, speak less.

OK so perfect combination of Joe Burrow and Michael Vick. That better? LOL

Possibly the best all around skill set

Not Cam Newton. He was a power runner. A combination of Burrow and Manziel, maybe, or Lamar Jackson.

No chance. JD has tons of talent and has been phenomenal this year, but he didn't excel in the most critical games.
His 2nd half against FSU, for example, was subpar.
Did JB have a bad game? Maybe Auburn, but he was clutch. Look at the Texas game, the Bama game, the Clemson game, for example.
So physical talent, maybe JD is better, but there is a lot more to being a QB than physical talent.

No he's not. But he is much better and much closer to Joey B than I ever expected he would be.
This is the correct answer!

Dude…what are u smoking? That 2019 Oline won the Joe Moore award for the best Oline in the nation that year.
They didn't deserve it. Joe got out of a ton of sacks.

Game on the line, down 5 with under a minute to play I'm taking Burrow 10/10 times.
That said, same scenario without the option of Burrow and I'm taking Jayden 10/10 over any other past LSU QB.

This is 30th thread comparing JD5 and JB9

To me it’s kinda like comparing the abilities of Drew Brees to the abilities Lamar Jackson.
Both are the elite of the elite level.
Burrow is a click or two better to me. He knows how to lose and how to win his arse off too.

Joe Burrow is the guy that gets up and throws TD's after a big hit!
Joe Burrow has LSU's only undefeated season, not to mention against numerous ranked teams with elite defenses.
Joe Burrow wins the National Championship against a Clemson team that won 29 straight games with a 3rd ranked defense going into the Championship game.
All that being said I hope JD5 wins the Heisman. JD5 put up crazy numbers and like another poster said he's more like Joey B than I could ever imagined.

Seems like it’s been more.

quote:And it’s not even an argument. 2019 was a better team but Jd is the the Heisman favorite over JB that year also.
Hell I'll say it, he is in my opinion. Burrow was a little better at pre snap reads but it is JD's legs that set him apart from every other QB I've ever seen. He is literally the perfect combination of Joe Burrow and Cam Newton.
