They have a decent offense and a top 5, maybe top 3, defense. They are a good team.

Uhhhh... I don't think thats how the saying go...
re: How do you think the convo between Lane and Baker went to get him to stay?

This is actually a pretty important, but not often thought about point.
When a P4 coordinator becomes a G5 head coache and flame out it usually sets their coaching career back for 5-10 years. Oftentimes they end up as a coordinator at a G5 school or position coach at a P4 school. If they are lucky they get picked up by a P4 school as a coordinator.
When they go from P4 Coordinator to P4 head coach and flame out they still often get G4 head coaching jobs or P4 coordinator jobs.

I kindof think that's the thought process. If there's a few fliers left we may grab them. But for the most part use the transfer portal. LSU has had 3 VERY GOOD high school recruiting classes the past 3 years, so we have plenty of young talent, just need some gamewreckers from the transfer portal like we did last year.
re: Anyone else seeing the potential irony of today's SEC Championship?

Eh, the committee has already shown they are willing to do it to an undefeated FSU. Obviously they aren't Bama, but it's not like FSU is a nobody.
re: Blake is a rental at this point.

Thats exactly right. If you head coach is an elite play caller on one side of the ball, you dont run the risk of batching a coordinator hire on that side, you just take over play calling until you can replace them. Every good coach misses on coordinators every now and again.
re: I'm not going to lie, I think this team makes the playoffs next year

Lane kiffin has shown time and time again he can turn a ham sammich into an all conference QB. That's the lest of my worries. Im more worried about the O-line not sucking next year, which again, lane has been really good at O-line, but is even better about scheming around his weaknesses.
re: After this year’s atrocious offensive, Lane’s IG story this morning has to pump you up
Posted by Hurricane2020 on 12/5/25 at 1:18 pm to Wolfcola
On paper this offense should've been elite...
In reality, poor, sratch that, some of the worst offensive line development ive ever seen, and abysmal play calling made it one of the worst in program history.
Our oline was cover in top 150 players, it should've be altered least serviceable...

Imagine how salty you would be if your ex head coach did this, lol.
re: Should we be expecting Dom McKinley to hit the portal?

Damn chicken... Even you are getting tired of all the world is ending posts?

It is literally less money comparatively than what an average person pays for toilet paper...
re: The downside of the portal is it is usually a short term solution

Same year and get an eligibility waiver*
Sorry, had to fix that for you.

Why would he take yalls defensive staff? LSU already had a better defensive staff at home...

Right, I just got offered a maintenance role for a chemical plant while I was employed at that location in the same role as a contractor. My boss congratulated me 3 weeks ago, I start next monday and have been working with the contractor the whole time.
re: What is a realistic record for year 1?
Posted by Hurricane2020 on 11/30/25 at 1:51 pm to alessic7
LSU had the better roster every year they played ole miss. Ole miss had some game wreckers on the d line and a good QB.
re: Another reason Lane wanted to be here…..
Posted by Hurricane2020 on 11/30/25 at 1:45 pm to AD23
If you win the seats stay full. Nobody wanted to watch the dogshit product we have put on the field this year.
re: Kiffin couldn’t have made the sec championship with this bama team
Posted by Hurricane2020 on 11/30/25 at 11:36 am to JamalMurry27
You talking about the alabama team with the #1/#2 most talented team in the country with a heisman contender that had 2 losses, almost lost like 4 games, squeaked by UGA for a head to head tiebreaker to backdoor its way into the SEC championship game over two sec teams with a better record and resume in Ole Miss and Texas a&m?
I think he would've done fine at Bama.

re: So Kiffin really hasn't changed all that much.
Posted by Hurricane2020 on 11/30/25 at 11:32 am to Islander
20 years ago. He's was like 30 years old at the time. Kiffin is a much better coach today.
re: I’m over Lane’s drama before he’s even our coach
Posted by Hurricane2020 on 11/29/25 at 6:51 pm to Kreg Jennings
He literally just wants to finish coaching rhe kids he made a promise to. He's committed to those young men. He's proven he's a hell of a lot more committed than most lower teir head coaches being poached by top programs.
re: Kiffin Carter meeting @ 3 - official
Posted by Hurricane2020 on 11/29/25 at 2:29 pm to Navajo61490
Why would he do all this bullshite if he was staying? Ole miss has already matched or exceeded literally every offer he has been offered. He is leaving.
re: The meeting is at 3pm cst. Per OM247 reporters
Posted by Hurricane2020 on 11/29/25 at 2:18 pm to Goalpost
Sure, I dont disagree, but at the same time, he has an obligation to his current school and players. He hasn't put in his 2 weeks notice yet and wants it to be a 2 month notice. He obviously loves and cares about his players.
