No way

Talk about ruining the truth by stretching it.

JD5 is great but JOECool9 played a much more difficult schedule.

Statistically JD is right there with him, not unlike Brees with Brady.
Joe had a bigger clutch factor than JD though. Remember the stop the Ole Miss defense got in the 4th quarter. That was the difference.

It’s almost unfair to compare the 2. As other posters have said, what separates JB from JD is that dominate playoff run. JD won’t get to make that run thru no fault of his. I’m just glad we have had both within a short time span

2023 Burrow would play DB some like in high school, or Burrow would fight the defense and make them tougher…
Burrow is better passer and read defenses better. Burrow didn’t face defenses focusing on stopping him from running first. Defenses had more depth pre 2022.
You could also see him checking into different plays his first game against Miami in 2018 after just deciding where to trans in summer after graduating where as JD was here but just couldn’t participate in spring practices. Joe didn’t start for 3 years and had to develop first season as a starter, but also in 2018 he had to make do with a still very predictable offense. Almost same line in 2019 looked awful in 2018 as defenses knew tendencies and plays as well as the offense. Even before 2019 he had started to become a favorite due how he didn’t back down and got in peoples’ faces. I didn’t even know he started crap with the defense in 2018 until after he left. He also nearly played every offensive snap in 2018 due redshirting Brennan his 2nd season at LSU. Joe was cocky as hell and backed it up which LSU needed.
JD is by far the better runner obviously and has become a very good passer this season. He has not answered in a few 4th quarters this season (one was due to injury but only fan logic doesn’t admit that Bama’s defense had started to assert itself), and even if stats exactly the same this rightly keeps him behind Joe as QB and as a leader at LSU. Championships and perfect seasons matter, and many from 2019 are going to be favorited over players from other seasons especially ones who left or didn’t really part of 2020 and 2021 downfalls.
Yes LSU’s 2019 defense was better, but most defenses were better then and had depth to stay good thru entire season and thru injuries.

Another difference is we didn’t need to pad Burrows numbers against cupcakes like Ga. State.

Why “no fault of his”? Burrow and LSU were undefeated in regular season. Is 2023 team?
It’s a team sport, and offense didn’t answer in 4th quarter in 3 losses. He was a part of that. Regardless of injury Bama had started to shut us down before it happened.
He is having a great season, and depending on how season ends for LSU and Oregon & Washington he may win the heisman. He is a part of the reason why LSU isn’t playoff bound.

Vs Ole Miss they had a chance to tie it. The ball hit the receiver in the hands inside the end zone.
Daniels was knocked out of the Bama game. Granted the tip drill interception is what likely sealed the game.

No.
Second best. Possibly.
But you better put some respeck on Joey B’s name.

Actually we had the ball 2 times at the end of the game and came up with 0 points.

The slow start at Ole Miss is what cost us the game.

I agree JB is better, if it’s a team sport then you have to consider the team each played on. I’d take JB 10/10 times but JD is playing on a team that has one of the worst defenses LSU has ever fielded. That offense is expected to respond and excel every possession just to win.

We weren’t very good in the 4th quarter either. JD was only 5-10 passing, ran it 5 times for 6 yards and Diggs only had 2 attempts.

Keep in mind that defense actually allows JD to gain higher stats.

tough call but you left brian sparacino out of the conversation, and i dont understand why
Posted on 11/21/23 at 10:00 pm to TigerFan244
Nope! Not even in the same conversation.
Is Jayden Daniels talented? Sure he is.
However, he is not Joe Burrow nor will he ever be. Joe is a once in a lifetime QB.
Stop with the comparisons and let Jayden Daniels enjoy being his own person. He will never be better than Joe.

So desperate by some here to elevate him above Burrow. Why is that?

I’d be willing to bet there’s better NFL talent on this year’s OL than the 2019.
Probably, but this years best lineman are arguably Campbell and Jones who started right out of high school (missing out on the redshirt weight room year) and have at least one more year in school.
That 2019 line was a lot more experienced. You also had two of those guys in '19 as day 1 NFL starters, and another who started a lot his rookie year. I do think its a good argument though about which one is better now and will be better in the NFL.
