Burrow was never close to playing as bad as Daniels last year.

Burrow had a better first year, and an even better second year.

I love Daniels but Burrow was just different. If Daniels gets decleated like Burrow did in that 2018 bowl game, I’m not sure he would ever return.

Burrow took that shot against Clemson by the mongloid and cracked his ribs. Still finished the game as MVP and could have scored another if not for kneeing inside the 20yd line at the end.

Burrow was built different. Absolute killer. Daniels is the most dynamic QB I’ve ever seen running and throwing, but Burrow was unstoppable

but can you imagine Daniels having the same defense as Burrow?

Yes, I can. This is the narrative that has to stop.

2019 vs Texas
Sam Ehlinger 31-47 401yds 4TD's
Joe Burrow 31-39 471yds 4TD's

2019 vs Bama
Tua: 21-40 418yds 4Td's, 1Int 3 carries -5 yds
Burrow: 31-39 393yds, 3TD's 6 carries 64 yds

2023 vs FSU
Jordan Travis: 23-31 342yds, 4TD, 1Int
Jayden Daniels: 22-37 346yds 1TD, 1Int

2023 vs Bama
Milroe: 15-23 219yds 20 carries 155 yds 4TDs
Daniels: 15-24 219yds 2TDs 1Int 11 carries 164 yds 1TD

The narrative that the defense in 2019 was great all season is incorrect. It took heroic, all time performances by Burrow to win those games. Burrow outplayed both qbs in the above games despite them putting up huge numbers. The difference was this year that Jayden did not outplay his counterparts in the big games and needed the defense to come up with a stop. He was outplayed by Travis substantially and he was unable to outplay Milroe.

Again, Daniels has been great this year. But he has not been 2019 Burrow, especially against our two toughest opponents.

When you compare these two QBs on this site, you are going to get a lot of posts like these:

quote:

Burrow had way quicker mental processing.
quote:

He still isn't half the passer that Joey B. was. He is still behind on passes and slow in his progressions.
quote:

I agree about him missing reads or slower to read than JB9.
quote:

there is a lot more to being a QB than physical talent

quote:

Joe was built different.
quote:

Not sure why but I’d bet on burrow. He just seems to have that ability to make things happen
quote:

Joe Burrow is the guy that gets up and throws TD's after a big hit!
quote:

Respectfully, who do you want after a big hit?
quote:

Like another poster said Joe Burrow is built different.
quote:

Not as far as progression to pro football. Running QB’s don’t fair as well in the long run with the pros. Take a beating and out with injuries (ie; Cam Newton).
quote:

So desperate by some here to elevate him above Burrow. Why is that?
quote:

You know.

I love Daniels but Burrow was just different. If Daniels gets decleated like Burrow did in that 2018 bowl game, I’m not sure he would ever return.
