Separation of church and state much?

I’m sorry but you can’t have it both ways.

He’s a citizen, he’s over18, he’s not a felon.

Those are the basics needed in most places.

There might be a question about him being a resident of his state now that he lives in Vatican city and is the head of a foreign state.

He is now a dual citizen.

ETA: He is a tri-citizen, Vatican, Peru, U.S.

So the Baptist preacher down the street cannot vote because he leads his local church?

How about the Priest in the local Catholic Church?

If they are both US citizens, why can't they?

If he is still a citizen of the US, why wouldn't he vote? Priests and reverends all over the country vote.

As much as I think the Pope is leading people to hell, I have to say that the separation of church and state doesn't apply here. Pastors of Protestant churches vote, as well.

I don’t think he should have a dog in the hunt.

The Pope says that YOU are leading people to Hell.

But your line of thinking is overwhelmingly the mainstream of all Protestant thinking, and that is why I contend that:

1) Protestants don't consider Catholics to be Christians

2) Catholics and Protestants follow two distinctly separate and different Religions

It's because people are fake Christians.

You are putting your faith and idolizing a politician. That goes against Christianity.

Real Christians don't vote. Your faith is in God.

I don’t know. I guess that was reported or it’s just rumor.

Traditionally popes have given up their citizenship to their native country when they become citizens of the Vatican, but the last 2 did not.

I think that is the more high ground way to go as dual citizenship keeps political ties open and the pope should be less political.

Neither the Baptist preacher down the street nor the local Catholic priest are the sovereign of a nation-state.

Why? I think all citizens have a dog in the hunt, regardless of their vocation. Voting is selecting representatives for service in government. Why shouldn't leaders of churches also have a say in their representatives? How about Christians more broadly? My Christian faith defines who I am at my core. Are you opposed to me being able to vote because I'm looking for representatives that reflect my beliefs as best as possible?

Those mail in ballots in Chicago found their way to the Vatican. At least the pope is alive, we think.
