LSU men's basketball coach Will Wade met with reporters on Thursday ahead of the Tigers' season opener next week and delivered a strong message about outside noise and criticism surrounding his program.

Wade made it clear that he and his players aren't worried about what others think. Their focus is on winning.

"Look, you sign up to play at LSU, sign up to play for me, you know there's going to be some stuff. That's just the way it works. So they're pretty inoculated to it," Wade said.

"Anybody else's opinion of what we do? They're not here every day. They can't judge us. They're not here every day. They don't know the truth.

"And if it doesn't affect winning, we don't have a lot of time for it. And so it's about winning and winning big."

"What somebody thinks of us doesn't affect whether we win or not. How we play, how we eat lunch, how we stretch, how we meditate, how we do all that stuff, that affects whether we win or not.

"So we're going to focus on the stuff that affects whether we win or not. And all the stuff that doesn't matter whether we win, we'll let everybody else kind of talk about that and think what they want to think."

LSU opens the regular season Tuesday, November 3, against New Orleans at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
