All American citizens without felonies can vote.

Priest, Rabbis, Mullahs, Pasters, Swamis, Popes, and even atheists can and do vote.

I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt, and assume ignorance and not anti-religious bias and bigotry.

Da fuq? Being religious doesn't exclude you from voting. That's the whole purpose of the 1st amendment.

I’m sorry but you can’t have it both ways.
So you think to exercise one right means you have to give up the others? And that government should exclude those that practice their religion? There's a word for that. Starts with a 'b' and rhymes with 'igot".

Why not add a layer of residency or domicile requirements to voting?

It is the same thing like requiring a person to declare an address as their primary residence for property taxes or FHA financing.

If a candidate has to declare that he or she is a resident of a district or state, then voters too should have an established residency to vote. I can understand temporary leaves for out of the country work for a few months, but eventually you return home like the military.

No big deal. Pope Adrian II voted for Joe Biden in 2020.

I looked it up and found that to register and vote in Illinois, state law requires that you be a resident of Illinois and reside in your specific voting precinct for at least 30 days immediately prior to the election.

The Pope may have committed voter fraud, if he voted. Which I don’t know.

None of the examples you give are also the head of a sovereign nation not named United States. It is a conflict of interests to have heads of other nations taking part in the elections of our country. Be they a US citizen or not.

I do not see in any way how this could be a conflict of interest.

I mean, like it or not, he is a citizen. Hell, I held duel citizenship and voted in a U.S. Presidential (absentee) and Australian federal election in the same year. There are plenty of arguments for and against it, but it is what it is.

So you’d be ok if the pope was president?
Not that homie. You serious? I question whether he's actually a believer or not.

Also, your question is a textbook straw man, with a non sequitur thrown in. I argued that separation of church and state doesn't exclude Christians from government. You twisted that into me supporting the pope for president.

Those are two entirely different propositions. Having the right to participate in government doesn't automatically make someone qualified for, or deserving of, my support for president.

Try again.
