Lane Kiffin Was 'Shocked' By LSU-Alabama Kickoff Time, Jokes About SEC

USA TODAY Network via Reuters Connect
LSU's upcoming showdown against Alabama on Saturday, November 7, will kick off at 2:30 p.m. CT on ABC, a surprising change from the traditional nighttime matchup in Tiger Stadium.
During Wednesday's SEC Coaches Teleconference, LSU head coach Lane Kiffin admitted he was shocked when the kickoff time was announced on Monday.
Kiffin said he never even considered the possibility of an afternoon kickoff, given the history of the rivalry and LSU's well-known home-field advantage at night.
The Tigers' head coach also had a few jokes about the SEC when discussing the decision.

"I mean, I was shocked. I didn't even think, to even, think about the time. I just assumed, especially in 16 years, this game has been at night here all the time, you know, the last 16 years.
"So I never even thought that, considering that it wouldn't be at night. So I guess that's probably naive of me.
"I was joking earlier, you know, when people were saying, 'Well, obviously the SEC wanted to change this year from how it had been to, you know, to give LSU less advantage of obviously how well LSU plays at night and how intimidating it is to play here.'
"And I was like, 'Well, if someone thinks the SEC wants us to win this year after what's been going on? They must have just been on Mars the last four months.'
"So I guess when I look at it that way, I'm not surprised."
