It is all theater. It must also pass the Senate. If it does it goes to Trump, who will veto the bill. It would need 2/3 vote of Congress to override his veto. It will never pass.

Yes, war should be a congressional power.

He can’t veto but…

“A concurrent resolution is a legislative measure adopted by both houses of a bicameral legislature that does not have the force of law and does not require the approval of the president. It is typically used to express sentiments or regulate internal affairs of the legislature.”

This would’ve never been brought up under a similar situation had this been with Obama or puppet-Joe in the WH

Didn't Congress put an end to Obama bombing Libya via the same process?

And I specified “emergency” military decisions on purpose. As far as sustained military action is concerned, I’d agree with you, as a general matter. But the intended purpose of the President’s war powers authority is to provide our country the capacity for quick, organized and streamlined military action when circumstances don’t allow for the time it would necessarily take with Congress.

But as I previously mentioned, Congress does have a role to play in my ideal scenario.

From what I have been reading the senate would need 60 votes

Cassidy
Cornyn?
Tillis
Murkowski
Collins?
Paul?

who else is on the weak kneed or revenge list?

It is a real possibility that Fetterman would vote No...

So what emergency threat to the US gave the president the right to use our military forces?

Excuse me if I totally ignore anything the Dems have to say on the subject of war after most of them supported and covered for Biden after the Afghanistan withdrawal. They could and should have held some people accountable for that total disaster. Instead all they did was covered for the Biden administration and made excuses or outright lied. If the Dems want to go rename a post office somewhere then let them go for it. When it comes to war or immigration then these people need to sit down and shut up because they do not have one ounce of credibility on either subject. They are the last people that need to be attacking Trump on his handling of the Iran war or immigration.

Just wasting time and money on something Trump will just veto. I wish congress would actually do something instead of this performative bull shite.

I don't think so. Trump will use this as an out to save face.
