I watched that game. I watched 2020. Outside of those 2 games I don’t think Saban really even had to do to much to win. Lane always seemed to screw himself with dumb coaching. Get the popcorn ready. Than game was over 15 mins later. Lane always will lay an egg or two being a dumbass. His immaturity gets in the way and costs him. That’s what he is until he changes that. Changing schools isn’t going to fix that. Lane has to fix that and he can’t because the immaturity is part of what makes him as successful as he has been so far. They only way he will ever make it to the top of the mountain is if all the stars line up type of things. All the major schools have to rebuild or have massive injuries. Outside of that he will trip himself up every year just enough to keep him on the outside looking in at being a truly great coach. He needs a Coach O type year in 2019 or he will never win a damn thing.
I think SMU has access to a lot of money don’t they? Doubtful if that’s the case.
I don’t read all of the comment because you lost me. Jimbo Fisher, BK, Fat Josh all have at least one win over a Saban coached Bama team. You are trying to tell me that Kiffin hasn’t had as much if not more talent than all of those coaches. Gus Malzahn made a career out of taking Saban to the wire when Saban played at Auburn. Yet every time Kiffin coached against Saban he got schooled. Hell Gus even beat Saban one year. But pitiful ole talent poor lane was stuck in the Vandy of the SEC West and couldn’t even recruit enough talent to compete. Stop it!! The problem wasn’t the school that kept Kiffin from winning big games and making it to Atlanta at least once. The problem wasn’t talent. It wasn’t lack of fan interest or tradition. The problem was Lane freaking Kiffin getting his shite pushed in by other coaches and keeping him out of games like Atlanta or the playoff.
Everyone wants to treat Kiffin at Ole Miss like he was coaching at Vandy. He had talent enough to win at a high clip and make Atlanta once just like Deboer did. Yet Kiffin has failed to do so where Deboer actually had to beat a few teams to pull it off. If BK can beat Saban and got to Atlanta then Kiffin should have made it once no sweat if he was this epic coaching figure. All I have watched him do is underachieve.
I’m not sold on Deboer. But when you compare him to Kiffin you can’t help but say he has done more. Kiffin has not been talent poor at Ole Miss. I have named off several average coaches with wins over Saban but this all world Lane Kiffin can’t beat Saban once like BK did and go to Atlanta and get pounded by Georgia? Kiffin can’t even make it to Atlanta over our joke of a coach last season with his best team? LSU fans can make fun of Deboer all they want but he has done things in just 2 years at Bama than Lane has done at Ole Miss with a more established program. By more established I mean not in transition. Year one was chaos when he got there. Kiffin has not had to go through that. Yet this joke of a coach can succeed in ways this all world football guru can’t. He can figure out ways to win against good teams where Kiffin always ends up swallowing the other coaches load. But he is fantastic and Deboer sucks. I don’t get it. It’s delusion at this point. :rolltide: :rolltide:
No I have been comparing two coaches records. I’m keeping it football related. I don’t know what the graduation rate is of either coach. I don’t know how much they donate to charity. All I’m doing is comparing records of two guys that Coach football. Everyone says one guy sucks but the other guy has done less with as good of a program the past 2 seasons since Deboer had to come in and try to salvage as much as he could. Deboer has done more in two seasons at Bama with a less established program than Kiffin has at Ole Miss. Kiffin has had enough talent to compete for some kind of championship but hasn’t. Why? Because maybe he is an average coach.
BK has a win over Saban. Everyone has at least one win over Saban except Lane.
Ole Miss has not been talent poor since Kiffin has been there. Deboer hasn’t had that much more talent than Kiffin. Like I said earlier Jimbo Fisher got Saban once. Fat Josh got Saban once. Gus got Saban once. You mean to tell me that Lane is the only coach in the last couple of years that couldn’t get Saban?

You guys hated BK yet didn’t he have to beat Lane to go to Atlanta? BK even played for a natty at ND yet he sucked and Lane is some college football god because he changed schools? His record reads average and he hasn’t won very many big games but changing schools is some magic cure for immaturity and mediocrity. Kiffin has had Saban out of the way for 2 years and still can’t make it to Atlanta or the playoff because he acts like a 5 yr old and can’t get it done when it counts.
At least making Atlanta one year. That’s the bare minimum any good coach should reach. Yet Lane has never done it and Deboer has but he sucks. How does Lane not suck worse?
I know. Say what you want to about the guy but he has accomplished more than Kiffin in his career.
I’m just comparing records between two coaches. I can’t help it Lane Sucks because Lane makes life all about Lane.
It’s not an opinion it’s fact. If the sport is not about playing for titles then why do we bother watching? You have to be in it to win it. Lane is never in it because he choked somewhere along the way. Deboer can say he has at least done it. May have not amounted to much when he got there but he got there. With 2 major schools. Lane can’t claim anything close to something like that. He has had enough talent to do it. He just can’t help from being Lane Kiffin and screwing up a game or two every year. While Lane takes the clown car out for a spin every season the rest of college football is working and getting better. Deboer found a way last season which is far more than Lane can claim to this point. When you compare the two I don’t see how anyone can say Lane is a better coach when he has never done it. Even Jimbo Fisher got Saban one year. Kane can’t screw up and do it at Ole Miss with some of those later Saban teams? Come on.
No. Some of the guys that walked wasn’t replaceable. Ole Miss the last 2 or 3 seasons now had the talent to make a serious run. They weren’t talent poor. Those Jaxon Dart teams and last year’s team had plenty of talent to make Atlanta at least. The problem was the coaching. In more years at Ole Miss Lane did less than Deboer has in just 2 full seasons at Bama. Deboer came in had to save a what he could the first year. Last year he just whiffed the offensive line. If he had got that right Bama would have been in business last year. They would have seriously contended. Deboer whiffed the line but still made it to Atlanta and playoff at Bama within 2 years. I’m not in love with the guy but I will give him his flowers for doing more than Lane has done at Ole Miss.
No when Deboer got to Alabama most of his keys players had walked already and most of the depth also. Bama lost a whole recurring class of Saban players. Around 30 something players left. Sure some stayed but not near enough. Somehow though Deboer is playing in Atlanta and the playoff with the worst offensive line in the world and had a QB in the HT race for a good chunk of the year.
And what did he do with that QB? Lost 2 or 3 games and allowed the coach y’all are making fun of to go to Atlanta and play Georgia. That is who he is. If Deboer can take Alabama to the SEC title and playoff with the offensive line he had last year then Lane should have been able to do it at Ole Miss at least once in 4,5,6 years.
Conference titles are meaningless now I totally agree. But when you have one hit wonder coaches like Coach O, BK, and others then why can’t Lane do that? He has had players at Ole Miss. Talent has been the issue with Lane.

Alabama beat Georgia at Georgia earlier last year. Injuries matter more than they ever have in college ball now. Bama was not the same team in the title game. Bama was beat to death and fading fast by the end of the regular season. Yet somehow Deboer still made the game somehow. Even with the albatross of an offensive line he gave himself to work with he still held on and made it. If Lane is a better coach why can’t he do that?
Dude Coach O and BK have at least either played for or actually won a title conference or national. Lane has not had anything like that at this level of football.

Saban and Kirby could have taken his Ole Miss teams and made an extremely deep playoff run if not won it all. Deboer could have probably even got them to Atlanta one year. Deboer and Kirby are probably the 2 most boring coaches but both of those guys made Atlanta last year and went to absolute war with each other both times. They just coach. No flash or pomp and circumstance. I’m not in love with Deboer but he has done more than Lane.

It doesn’t bother me if fans or the media want to be excited about Kiffin. But do it with some context. Lane doesn’t have a history of achieving great things. Have some prospective. If Lane won the SEC this year it’s the exception and not the rule. He has never been that guy.
He hates us because we didn’t want his sorry arse to replace Saban.
Saturday night you would have thought it was Saban back on the sideline at LSU.Lane is the greatest. Everyone was slobbering all over him and he won a game against a bad team. The talk about how great Lane is and what his achievements are is miles apart. Lane is an average coach. That what his record says he is. At least Deboer has an excuse for being average. He just showed up in the SEC and the South 3 years ago. Lane had 2 or 3 years at Bama and then has had a couple of years or so as head coach at Ole Miss. yet somehow Deboer has done more so far. How if Lane is a great coach.

It’s not that I think Lane is a terrible coach. His upside could be sky high. The same thing that makes him as relevant as he has been though is the same thing that holds him back from being extremely elite like Kirby. It’s his immaturity. The noise and chaos that surrounds him keeps him from achieving really great things. He can’t separate it out though. The immaturity makes him relevant but keeps him from really being great.
Dude you are making my point for me. Deboer has really been that great but has still done more than Lane. Why the hell everyone thinks he is the next Saban I do not know. All he has to do is prove it. He falls flat every year and comes up a little short.
He has done more than the current LSU head coach. Low bar I know but he has.
