South Carolina TE Caden Ramsey Suspended Following Arrest

South Carolina freshman tight end Caden Ramsey has been suspended from the football team following his arrest early Monday morning.

Ramsey was arrested in Berkeley County and charged with racing on a public road. According to reports, Ramsey and another vehicle allegedly reached speeds of up to 113 mph.

Head coach Shane Beamer addressed the situation Tuesday, calling it "extremely disappointing."

Beamer said Ramsey had never caused any issues since arriving at South Carolina and was actually named the Gamecocks' scout team player of the week following their season-opening win over Kent State.

Beamer met with Ramsey on Tuesday morning and said the freshman understands that he made a mistake. For now, Ramsey has been suspended while the program handles the situation internally.

"We've had plenty of conversations about driving and not driving too fast and the recklessness of that," Beamer said.

Ramsey, a three-star prospect from Cross, South Carolina, signed with the Gamecocks as part of their 2026 recruiting class. He played six snaps in South Carolina's 57-0 season-opening win over Kent State.
