re: President Trump announces first new U.S. oil refinery in 50 years

Shell was a complete idiot shutting it down instead of just idling it with a skeleton crew till demand got back from Covid.
They had just recently completed a process / pipeline integration project with the Norco facility, then they shut Convent down due to Shell only wanting to retain facilities that were combined refining / chemical complexes. Shell tried to sell it. They talked about converting it to a green / bio facility but backed off. Its being demolished now.
Shell sacrificed Convent at the altar of Climate Change
They put it on the market for less than 2 months before internally they knew they would shut the site down.
It has cost them several billion to idle and demo, both in direct costs as well as not operating during the Covid recovery which the industry saw record high margins on processing. They could run Venezuela crudes with some adjustments, and with some additional units, likely 100% VZ crude.
Shell said they want to be carbon neutral by 2030 and having refineries and chem plants ain't gonna help make that happen. Europeans are driving this.
They may have been able to build some Green/ bio units if the old CEO was in place long enough, but investors did not like how Exxon and Chevron were making record profits post Covid and Shell (after a number of sell offs and announcement to reduce production) was falling behind. So out with the old CEO, in with the new CEO, but the damage was done.

Yes. Somehow as taxpayers we are punished by using the method that requires fewer people and less risk of our information being lost.
The free version requires check writing, envelope and stamp usage, physical collection, vehicular transportation, sorting, shipping, unpacking, opening, sorting, reading, typing all the info you would have typed yourself, fund verification, then mail your sticker. It is killing the environment.

I will say I don't know what this material looks like, so if they can get it to cracker feed levels they might have something.
Its basically vac resid. Blending it to No. 6 fuel oil/ bunker oil was a way to handle excess feed in the past. I don't know what regs are in place now that might stop them from blending to sell for fuel oil (heavy sulfur content)

It's like the H Oil unit at the old Shell Convent refinery, except the RHU is much bigger. Same 3000PSI process and ebulated catalyst reactors.

You're getting downvotes, but it's true.
There are VPs over manufacturing and exploration and their direct reports. These people set direction for asset management the future of Shell.
No where in this mix is Gretchen.

No. I'm saying this is using HR jujitsu against them. Indians by large DGAF about DEI, but US corporate mangers do.

Everyone who works for these companies sending jobs to India needs to bury them with their own DEI bullshite.
Demand to know what is the % of women managers and technical discipline leads at these centers.
Ask these corporate managers how their company can do business with people that believe in a caste system of inequalities towards those being deemed not worthy to be an engineer.
Ask them what are their Indian counterpart's stance on inclusiveness towards LGBTQ people?
If Congress was worth a frick, they would have placed a tax on these services long ago.

The theme is for normal people to discover their unconscious biases against special people based off of their appearance.
So we should see this person as normal
And this person as also normal

Reading this thread makes me glad I send my paycheck to my account and deposit what's necessary into the joint account. I cash out all excess and spend it at the Casino to fund my "gambling habit"
A $100 bill in your sock drawer is worth $100, whereas $100 in your account is worth $50 when you get the divorce notice.
