I’ve often wondered if you could strap yourself to an anchored buoy in middle of ocean with Kevlar and a wet suit to protect from driving rain and ride it out with a GoPro.

I was at LSU when Isaac hit and we decided to ride it out at the fraternity house. One guy decided to try and ride his bike to Tigerland (he made it about to the end of sorority row) and there were two guys kayaking in the LSU lakes. People were doing dumb stuff in storms way before social media clout became a thing

My buddy down there has a Harbor Freight Predator 4550W Inverter Generator ready, as well as a new in box GE window unit A/C. Can he still run the generator to power their home and not backfeed the grid?

I think chinesebandit58 chose that name because he graduated LSU in 1958. He might have you by a year or two.

If it gets nasty I don't see those upside down picnic tables remaining in place. Either floating away or catching the wind and spiraling through the air.

Isaac was in 2012. Social media was very much a thing back in 2012. It’s not like you’re talking about a storm from the 80’s or 90’s.

As bad as #Ian will be for southwestern #Florida, an important trend today is an increasing threat to northeastern Florida.

Ian may now emerge over water east of Florida. Its interaction with a northeasterly belt of cool air could cause high winds and coastal flooding Wed-Thurs:

Already mandatory evacuations all along NE florida coasts and whole city of St.Augustine is under it too. I know Ian will slow down when it hits Florida but will be pushing water upon the Atlantic side and pouring rain also. The only thing people where I am are worried about is flooding and loosing power for days.

Ike was in 2008 and there was some crazy guy in a furry bear suit running around on the beach. He ended up having to take cover in some bar that ultimately got destroyed. I'm pretty sure he died.

Ok, he didn't die.

Now I can't even upload pictures!
This is ridiculous.

I think this is on the image hosting site's end, though.

Friend in Port Charlotte just texted that they’re packing up now to leave early in the morning. Couldn’t handle the stress any longer. Booked a room in Miami.

My son in St. Augustine said they're now in mandatory evacuation zone and that are shutting down the bridges and closing the island tonight.
