I was at LSU when Isaac hit and we decided to ride it out at the fraternity house. One guy decided to try and ride his bike to Tigerland (he made it about to the end of sorority row) and there were two guys kayaking in the LSU lakes. People were doing dumb stuff in storms way before social media clout became a thing
Isaac packed a punch for the coast and places like LaPlace but Isaac was barely a summer shower in Baton Rouge.

Dr. Levi Cowan @TropicalTidbits As bad as #Ian will be for southwestern #Florida, an important trend today is an increasing threat to northeastern Florida. Ian may now emerge over water east of Florida. Its interaction with a northeasterly belt of cool air could cause high winds and coastal flooding Wed-Thurs:
Well. shite! That’s me!

Isn't it supposed to hit at 2am tonight?
Nah. It'll make landfall tomorrow afternoon, but conditions will deteriorate with the quickness.

Better start panic buying gas, water, beer and lube because Ian gonna work your booty over.

Is the advisory on the first page not up to date? It shows it on land at 2am

Friend in Port Charlotte just texted that they’re packing up now to leave early in the morning. Couldn’t handle the stress any longer. Booked a room in Miami.
Ian is pulling a Charley. Heading to Tampa and making the news ignore everywhere else except Tampa. Then shift south the final day and slam Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda. At least they're leaving. Plenty of people down there were caught off guard by Charley.
Ian should be worse too. A much bigger and much slower moving storm. Charley was a compact little thing that raced across Florida.

How bad will it be for people at Disney resorts? Just found out a family member is there and didn't get a flight out.

My son in St. Augustine said they're now in mandatory evacuation zone and that are shutting down the bridges and closing the island tonight.
Have neighbors that have parents that live in St.Augustine and they are evacuating to next door we are right outside flood zone here and no bridges to close.

Yeah I apparently got my days mixed up.

That's a recon bummer. Looks like Mission 24 is headed back to MS and Mission 25 is stuck over S. FL?

I’m convinced some people would try to kayak into the eyewall of a bombed out Cat. 5 if they thought it could get them clout on Instagram and TikTok. Screw the TikTok the credibility upvotes on this site alone is worth that challenge.
If I was diagnosed with terminal cancer and 2 months to live and there was a storm brewing I’d do it. Gofundme with a goal of 2 million to leave my family when I die. If goal is reached I agree to kayak into it and livestream it. Rig up a custom kayak with arms to each side with floats to stabilize it, and a big oxygen tank mounted inside with respirator. Strap myself tight where I can’t fall out. Wet suit, helmet and Kevlar vest for protection.
If I die there it’s a better more fun death than cancer in a hospital. If I somehow survive I’m a damn legend

I’ve already told them to leave as soon as they’re packed.

FLBoo, where are you In relationship to expected landing? How are you feeling with this thing?
Posted on 9/27/22 at 6:21 pm to VABuckeye
We are staying. It was a tough decision but with tornado warnings all over Alligator Alley in our path we stayed.

It won’t be bad at all. They will have shite activities to keep kids occupied. They will never lose power. Disney and Universal are essentially the best places to evacuate too.
