re: How much do you spend annually on flowerbeds?
Posted by C-Bear on 4/17/24 at 5:09 pm
Recently spent about $125 on mulch for front and backyards. We only put new mulch in the spring. Seasonal color was close to $200. Replaced around 5-7 shrubs for another $150. Fall color change will be around $200. ...
re: Houston baws, how much is your water bill?
Posted by C-Bear on 3/31/24 at 8:44 pm
If I take out the garbage fee($16.35), the most recent bill was $32. We just turned the sprinkler system back on, so that will change. I think the highest our bill got last summer was $225. We live in Katy and the damn WHCWA fee will always be at least what your water fee is, but usually more. ...
re: Question for OT Parents with older kids
Posted by C-Bear on 3/27/24 at 3:19 pm
Son just turned 24. Graduated in ‘22 and has been employed since then by a small company. He lives on his own pays all of his own bills, but he is still on our health insurance. His company offers it, but our plan is better and cheaper. ...
re: How do you deal with the guilt of living far away from your aging parents?
Posted by C-Bear on 3/6/24 at 4:05 pm
It’s tough, but not just because of aging. I was the only child that lived away from home, and only Houston area at that. My son also missed out on having the same relationships that the other grandchildren had with my parents. Both of them are deceased now, but it got difficult when the end was nea...

re: Those that live within 10 miles of a Buc-ee's
Posted by C-Bear on 2/28/24 at 9:26 am
We live about 3 miles from the Katy Bucee’s. I go for Icees and my husband goes for their breakfast burritos. In other words, I go a few times a month during the summer and he goes once a week. ...

re: HOA violation question - illegal sublet nearby
Posted by C-Bear on 2/26/24 at 1:58 pm
If your neighborhood has rules against subletting, ask to go before your HOA board at the next meeting and raise your concerns. The HOA President is not allowed to make the call alone as to whether something of this nature should be investigated. ...
re: Since the average age for first marriage is now 29 for men & 28 for women
Posted by C-Bear on 2/18/24 at 3:16 pm
I’m replying to this as a married woman of 30.5 years and in complete menopause for the last three years. My sexual desire has actually increased during this time. Maybe I’m a unicorn, but my husband is certainly thankful for it....
re: Thank you to all who responded about my son's death

Mobile Josh, I believe you’re overthinking his response and making a “blanket statement” yourself. Take a breath on occasion. ...
re: How many of you have called off a wedding/ended an engagement?
Posted by C-Bear on 1/29/24 at 7:33 am
Not me, but my brother. When I was in Jr.High, he was engaged to his college girlfriend. She called it off right before Thanksgiving. He was devastated. Well, they got back together during the Christmas holidays and the summer wedding was back on. A few months later, he called it off. To this day, I...
re: Check in for Dry January.
Posted by C-Bear on 1/29/24 at 7:22 am
My most challenging night was for my Mardi Gras ball. I failed last year on that weekend, so once I cleared that hurdle, it’s been smooth sailing. I already exercise and try to eat right, but it made dropping the few extra pounds of holiday weight easy....

re: If SEC stays with 8 team SEC schedule for 2025
It happens. Florida and Auburn have proven that. Sure, we still want go beat the hell out of them, but it just doesn't mean as much when we do.
Do you think that about Ole Miss too? They’ve had a resurgence, so I guess not. Just because a team has fallen off, doesn’t mean they won’...

re: Worst NFL Draft Declaration Ever?
Posted by C-Bear on 1/10/24 at 7:06 am
Malachi was ALWAYS going to declare early. I worked with a family member when he signed with LSU and that was always his plan. Some plans seem great initially, but there’s no harm in revising them. These players need to realize that when it comes to deciding when to declare. ...
