Don’t forget abandoning the Gold standard. Wasn’t that Nixon though?

Wife works in big 4 and her hours are stout......especially now. I run a consulting firms regional operations, so my schedule is very flexible.
It’s about need, but I will look back and cherish every moment and meal I prepared for our chimps.
My kids are not “cool” kids. They’re Boy Scouts, dorks, academics.....good people. I feel that I have been able to actively support my wife’s guidance on steering a course to be kind, smart kids.
Nope. Not spending too much time.

Was travel ball time included in this study?

I think it’s a good thing. How “manly” your son becomes just depends on what you spend time doing. Take him hunting and fishing, throw a baseball, etc

Dual incomes ruined this country.
fact. everyone got greedy.
More than that. We also sold our manufacturing base out to foreign nations and the whole everyone deserves to go to college scam has made it almost impossible for average Joe to make a middle class living with low debt on a high school diploma.

In 2016, fathers reported spending an average of eight hours a week on child care

By comparison, mothers spent an average of about 14 hours a week on child care
I ran the numbers. That’s 24 hours per week on child care. That’s just a weekend for my wife and I. WTF are these parents doing with their kids during the week?

Where did you get the chart? Good one

Look at the crime rates as a percentage of population from 1950 through today and tell me what you think then.
Look at the crime rate percentages in families without a stable present father figure and those with to see if that puts it in focus.
BTW, I 'm part of a single earner household and hug my kids even now (my youngest is 19). I did occasionally change diapers. If you're bad at it, your wife will typically relieve you of those duties permanently.

Prisons are full of men and women raised by single moms and broken homes.

Things aren’t so black and white. Most kids still grow up with their dad around.
Is it really too much to ask if dads spending 3x more time w/ kids may not be ideal? Frankly, I should be praised for asking these difficult questions.

except you site a stat from fathers from the 1980s not helping
wouldn't those kids be the "pussification of the western male" you claim is so prevalent today?
also, do you blame your Dad for you being a pussy?

I was raised by my dad who was and still is a wonderful father. His proudest moment was when I told him I’m starting to close in on 10,000 posts on TD. But seriously, I was the type of kid that definitely could have gone the wrong direction, very easily, but all his kids have turned out to be good people.
He worked a lot also but spent good time with us. I work a lot and sometimes get too pissed at my boys more often then I should but I love playing and spending time with them. My daughters I don’t think I’ve even even raised my voice at them. Probably not fair but they never tore shite up in the house either, or got in trouble at school. One big thing I do is limit screen time with boys and make them either play outside or play with regular toys as much as possible, for the most part they prefer that anyways. I’m not always out there with them but I do like to go out there a lot and do whatever, ball, hide and seek, squirrel hunt, etc
ETA: Don’t blame my bad posting history on my dad

Only if the father is a pussy soy boy. Nothing but good can come from the little ones spending time in the woods and learning from a real man.

Yes. It makes the new generations soft.
That’s dumb and not the case.

Also the fact that many people don't beat their kids anymore further contributes to the softness plaguing this once great country.
Also dumb, sure kids need a spanking from time to time but only as a disciplinarian tool, not to “toughen them up.”
