people say this. But it just isn’t true. The most manly thing, by definition, can’t be performing maternal duties.

Hard to be changing diapers when you are getting in to a ship headed out across an ocean you don’t know to a land you aren’t sure is there to discover new worlds.

Not knocking it, I did it w three kids, but come on man

My dad and me interacted every day, that consisted of feeding/watering chickens, show pig, pulling vegetables for dinner from the garden, processing broilers and steers and wild game for the freezer, fixing fence, mowing yard, bush hogging, hay cutting.

You know, shite that people don’t do for themselves any more that men used to.

This is a clear case of the downward spiral boomers sent us on. Very tragic. Thank God the millennials are bringing back class and redefining the modern man. A man that can provide, nurture, and lead a family. Millennials are the American heroes today.

Being a father means being there to help teach your kids life lessons about winning and losing, respect, and fortitude. It’s hard to do that if you’re not in their life. Being a father isn’t just changing diapers and slapping on a breast feeding bra to nurse your child at night.

I don’t personally think it’s not manly I just never see it. But on here people see it once or see a meme and think that’s most people. Kinda like people saying kids never play outside anymore when all I ever see is kids outside playing, everywhere I go. Just b/c it’s a common talking point on social media doesn’t make it fact

Liked your use of the gif btw

I'm sorry your dad didn't love you. Hopefully if you have a kid you can break the cycle and show your kids some love.

The most manly thing to do is to get shite done. If that means you have to do it then you do it.

If you’re at home changing diapers while your wife is in night school or pulling a night shift as a nurse, you’re not “performing maternal duties” you’re Man’ing Up and making sure your family is taken care of.

Spending time with your kids is awesome. I don’t treat them like my wife does. We get after it. Dirt piles, making a fire, throwing rocks, climbing trees, and trying to get them to do things independently with a little assistance. That’s the role of a father. Mothers are for coddling and emotions. Fathers are for confidence and toughness. There’s times where they overlap, but that’s going to happen.

I wonder what those numbers look like for all parents, mother and father. I’d be willing to bet that all of those numbers are up significantly.

I think debating that would be interesting: is parents spending more time with their children overall necessarily a good thing?

My parents used to call them helicopter parents because they were always hovering around their kids, but now cal them lawn mower parents as they look to mow down every obstacle in their child’s way

Didn’t you know manning up and caring for your family is now unmanly according to GreatLakes?

Pretty much sums it up. I changed diapers, not near as much as my wife. I didn’t look forward to it hell a piss diaper only takes honestly a minute at the most, usually less than that. I can’t remember now but pretty sure I had down to 30 seconds from start to finish.
