frick this. America’s individualism is what makes us unique around the world and is why we are such an entrepreneurial people.

The School Staffing Surge: Decades of Employment Growth in America's Public Schools. Part II
On a Per-Student Basis, School Staffing Levels Are Hitting All-Time Highs

quote:
America's K-12 public education system has experienced tremendous historical growth in employment, according to the U.S. Department of Education's National Center for Education Statistics. Between fiscal year (FY) 1950 and FY 2009, the number of K-12 public school students in the United States increased by 96 percent, while the number of full-time equivalent (FTE) school employees grew 386 percent. Public schools grew staffing at a rate four times faster than the increase in students over that time period. Of those personnel, teachers' numbers increased 252 percent, while administrators and other non-teaching staff experienced growth of 702 percent, more than seven times the increase in students. That hiring pattern has persisted in more recent years as well. Between FY 1992 and FY 2009, the number of K-12 public school students nationwide grew 17 percent, while the number of FTE school employees increased 39 percent. Among school personnel, teachers' staffing numbers rose 32 percent, while administrators and other non-teaching staff experienced growth of 46 percent, 2.3 times greater than the increase in students over that 18-year period; the growth in the number of teachers was almost twice that of students.
On a Per-Student Basis, School Staffing Levels Are Hitting All-Time Highs
quote:
When the first Baby Boomers started attending public schools in the 1950s, a typical American school district employed about 58 workers for every 1,000 students enrolled. By the time Millennials like myself attended school in the 1990s, schools employed twice as many adults to serve the same number of students. In the 2020-21 school year, staffing levels hit all-time highs, and the typical public school district employed 135 people for every 1,000 students it served.

Soaring U.S. Power Demand Will Need All Energy Sources

Soaring U.S. Power Demand Will Need All Energy Sources - OilPrice.com link

AI data centers and the reshoring of some manufacturing will drive U.S. electricity demand growth over the coming decade.
quote:
As of July 2024, Wood Mackenzie had identified about 50 gigawatts (GW) of proposed data centers in America. This figure had doubled in a few months, and the proposed data centers were nearly 100 GW by January 1, 2025, according to WoodMac’s estimates.
quote:
AI data centers are set to account for almost half of U.S. power demand growth by the end of the decade, the International Energy Agency (IEA) said in its Energy and AI report last week. Driven by AI use, America will consume more electricity for data centers than for the production of aluminum, steel, cement, chemicals, and all other energy-intensive goods combined, according to the agency.
quote:
Goldman Sachs, for its part, sees U.S. electrical power demand rising by 2.4% each year through the end of the decade, with AI-related demand accounting for about two-thirds of the incremental power demand in the country.
quote:
Who Will Power the AI Boom? Natural gas is set to provide 60% of the incremental generation capacity related to data center demand, while renewables are expected to provide the remaining 40%, the investment bank’s analysts said.

It also decreases funds for the schools that need funding the most.
They should cut admins then so more money could go to people that actually improve the schools

He did a great job turning the run game around in 2022. I’m just curious why it’s not translating the last 3 years. Scheme? Both blocking and overall play calling?

He should have retired after 2019. You could tell it was seriously deteriorating, but he was still functioning.
What they allowed him to do these past 5 years is nothing short of tragic in terms of how an entire generation now sees him.
I absolutely loved him on College Gameday for nearly 3 decades of me watching and absorbing college football.

I think our landscapes are pretty different. Our entire southern half/portion was made from the MS River deposition. What is Florida’s land mostly made from? I’m unaware of the rivers in FL

Yeah, but we know that won’t happen. Especially with Landry tabling/killing the latest attempt at tort reform

2012: No. 15 Texas A&M 29, No. 1 Alabama 24
The week before this game happened, Alabama played LSU in Death Valley in what is still the greatest atmosphere I’ve ever been a part of. This is the first LSU game that SVP ever attended and waxed so poetically about.
LSU lost the game in Death Valley but then had another tough home game against a top 25 MS State and came out victorious. I remember listening to the LSU post game interview with Jarvis Landry after the State game and they asked him what he thought about Alabama aTm, and he went on some canned speech about how good Alabama was and how much he respected them etc….
The interviewer interrupted him and said “You didn’t hear? aTm upset Alabama”
There was a long pause, a deep exhale, and all Landry said was “Really? Are you serious?” You could tell he was absolutely pissed off that aTm got the glory despite LSU beating down Alabama to the point that aTm even had a chance.

He did not lose an ounce of good will in 2008. He lost goodwill after he refused to adapt his offense to the modern game and rather squandered championship level defenses year after year with his whole “attack their strengths” approach.

Off topic, but why do business people use the term “basis points” instead of just saying the percents?
It went from 6.97% to 7.10%. Why the need to use basis points?
re: For those who watched the BCS era…and argued for a playoff system and players getting NIL

Who gives a shite that it’s pay for play versus “True NIL”? If they did away with NIL and allowed schools to write pay for play contracts, you would have buyouts nearly identical to coaching contracts, effectively ending unlimited transfers.

I know it's fun to rag on the NCAA but I don't completely fault them for this shite we're in. Anytime they tried to enforce a rule that they had in place someone would sue them and some pantywaist judge would rule against them. Their legs were cut out from under them from being able to enforce anything. It's kinda hard to enforce the rules about paying players when you're just going to get told by a judge you're not allowed to do so.
That’s because they kept trying to say/argue that they weren’t employees of the school. It’s awfully hard to limit the payment/earnings of people who aren’t your employees.
If the NCAA allowed schools to pay the players directly instead of requiring collectives, they could have used enforceable buyouts in contracts, effectively limiting transfers.
However, then we run into Title IX issues, which is the biggest crock of shite enforced on universities
