Put it this way

I do twice as much with my kids as my dad did for/with me on a daily basis.
With that said my dad is one of my best friends.
Just a different day and time.

I agree with this. I also think having 2 incomes helps myself and my wife be able to spend plenty time with our son. Much better than living 1/2 to 2/3 of my life away to make a living so my wife can sit at home and do nothing. By nothing I mean once your kids are in school what exactly does a stay at home mom do.

2 incomes 2 401Ks means early retirement.

If they are speading time camping, fishing, hunting, working on tree house, teaching them how to be responsible young men one day then yes more time is better. If they are spending time with them on how to eat soybeans then no.

From the age of 0 to 10 then no, after that it's more about who you want them to be than who they actually are.
