Anchorman
Billy Madison
Basically any movie where the "comedy" is a 40 year old saying stupid things that a 4 year old would say.
I can't sit through those movies from start to finish

Apocalypse Now.
I wanted to like it and have tried to watch it 3 or 4 times. Can't do it.

Inception and No Country for Old Men for me. Watched them once but they weren't captivating enough for a re-watch like a lot of movies y'all are naming.

No chance. Hated it.
Also, any Quentin Tarantino movie. Hated everything I’ve ever seen by him.

This board used to love Memento. I've never enjoyed that movie.

Was bored to death during La La Land and couldn't wait for it to be over. Couldn't believe how many people loved it afterwards.

Silence of the Lambs, Titanic, and Forest Gump...
Easily 3 of the best/most popular movies ever made. I sometimes ask myself, "why do people commit such horrible crimes in the world?" "What is possibly going through their head to make them want to serial murder all these people?" And then I see responses like this and I'm like..."Oh, that's why".

8 1/2. Widely viewed by critics as one of the greatest movies of all time. The movie is complete trash and just an hour and a half of stupidity.
Agree with you here. I usually like these kind of films but I find this one to be a big, fat mess.
It's supposed to be a mess though. People close to Fellini believed he was suicidal at that point in his life, and the film reflects that. He had to be talked out of using the darker original ending he wrote and filmed.
It's personally not my favorite Fellini film, but I get why people elevate it. At it's most basic level, it's a movie about making a movie, and Fellini said it was his favorite, so critics, filmmakers and hipster film snobs are always going to eat that up.

Biggest gripe in this thread is the amount of responses for Silence of the Lambs.
No problem with No Country or Life Aquatic being on people's not understanding minds...(I mean Life Aquatic is no Rushmore or Royal Tenenbaums but it has some weird hipster following.)
I don't even mind The Big Lebowski being repeatedly mentioned. That too, is a cultish movie and some people don't wanna be in the cult. Understandable.
But Silence of the Lambs? It was the 5th highest grossing film worldwide in 1991.
It is only the third film (and last one) to win an Oscar in ALL the major 5 categories.
Best Picture
Best Director
Best Actor
Best Actress
Best Screenplay
So it's a GIANT stretch for someone to say "I can't understand why this movie is popular." Really?

quote:The question was why one couldn't understand why the movies are popular. Their being popular doesn't answer the question of why. All three are simplistic, dopey films. Forest and titanic being worse than lambs in that department. Hopkins is laughable in that role and as someone earlier memtioned, really far-fetched. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised at them being popular, look what passes in the pop music industry these days.

Most mob movies. I just don't enjoy them.

Okay, you don’t like the movie. Hey, violent mob movies aren’t for everyone. But you seriously don’t understand why it’s popular and loved? Good grief.
The Godfather I & II are masterpieces, as close to film perfection we’re likely to ever see.
