ve service does mean bad. It means this game is unfinished and we spent an ungodly amounts of cash making this because we’re irresponsible and need to launch it in a beta state while we drip feed you mostly slop content.
Guess we kinda have to define live service....which I define as game that the developer intends to continually update and monetize long term.

I fear that it won’t be long though before Sony transitions to live service games as well. day that happens is the day I’ll stop playing console games altogether.
Well they have been developing live service games for years dude....some good (Hell Divers 2, GT 7) some bad (Concord) and they have Marathon coming out in few weeks with 2 Horizon based live service games and few other in the pipeline.
A live service game doesnt necessarily mean its bad imo. As long as the core gameplay is good, and there arent pay to win elements introduced, games designed with long term engagement in mind can be great. Arc Raiders is probably my favorite online game of the past 6 months or so and is great example of good live service game.
I honestly dont get this doom and gloom talk. Sony's first party output has been pretty sparse this generation and their leadership seem to be making some shite decisions. Some heavy hitters like Ubisoft and Microsoft owned game studios seem like they are in a downward spiral, but there is still an absolute plethora of great games coming out all the time. And I dont know any gamer that doesnt have a back log of games that they havent played that isnt years long.

We question life bc we exist.

Why are we the only lifeform that questions life yet we are the youngest lifeform according to science.
To take a move from your playbook, how do we know we are the only life form that questions life? But to guess, we have the most evolved pre frontal cortex compared to other primates. It gives our brains extra horsepower to ponder abstractly. Dolphins have a similar complex frontal brain region but the blueprint is a different.

why cant they do the math to watch the comet take out the dinosaurs? We should be able to point a telescope at space and watch a giant comet approach
Because its relative. If we were on a planet 66 million light years away we maybe able to see it..Does thst make sense

So theres absolutely no chance theres nothing else out there that we are unaware of that alters the speed of light after it leaves our atmosphere?
First off science doesn't deal in absolutes Science deals in approximate, provisional truths that are the best current explanations, constantly refined by new evidence, never claiming finality or absolute certainty. Yes light speed can is altered by all kinds of things but at astronomical distances going through mostly the vacuum of space its really insignificant. If you are interested in the subject do you have a public observatory near you?

So you believe we have created technology that can tell us stuff existed 13 billion years ago.
No one was there to see it so prove it.
Dude if you want to be absurdly obtuse I cant prove you are not a figment of my imagination either but what Im explaining is well known physics and astronomy.
Redshift and blueshift describe the change in the frequency of a light wave depending on whether an object is moving toward or away from us.
When an object is moving away from us, the light from the object is known as redshift, and when an object is moving towards us, the light from the object is known as blueshift. We can measure these frequencies. Couple that with our knowledge of lightspeed we can determine the approximate age of star we view. This is a very simple explanation.

Name a single recorded history of anything that happened to a human somewhere other than earth
Happened to a human, other than on the moon there isnt but we have data from various collection technologies that shows us events and states of the universe that existed far before humans existed on earth even before earth existed. You can even see some of them when you look at certain stars in the night sky, Methuselah, Kapteyn, Mu Cassiopeiae are among the oldest recorded at around 10- 13 billion years old.

Are not God ,gods, demons, angels etc... by definition extra terrestrial/ extra dimensional beings. How would we distinguish between an extra ordinally advanced being that can bend reality to its will and what believers think of as a God?

Recorded history is all here on earth and earth has been alive the whole time has it not?
Not according to our current understanding of the universe . the earth formed roughly 9 billion years after the big bang,

We will all to dead and gone before earth is dead so how will we prove it ever dies?
We can see the life cycles of other star systems and there is nothing extraordinary about our own so we are pretty sure our will sun will die in about 5-7 billion years. It will expand to a red giant and absorb the inner planets including earth first though.
re: How close are you to accepting that uploading human consciousness into robots is next?
Posted by ThuperThumpin on 2/20/26 at 2:26 pm to crimsoncoded94
We dont really know what consciousness is or understand how it manifest in living beings. Its a fascinating subject. Here is an interesting discussion on the idea that consciousness is fundamental and reality is essentially built around it. If it is and matter interacts with a "consciousness field" of sorts then there really isnt anything to upload other than possibly memories. It far out stuff but its a far out topic. If consciousness resides purely in the brain and we could some how copy it, it would still just be a copy of you and you would die and your copy would go on, so it really wouldnt be the immortality that some humans yearn for in this tech.

There is about 99.99% of the United States where you do not have to live that way.
I lived in S. Baton Rouge my entire life and only encountered crime in one instance in my life ...a car burglary at my parent s house when I was young. . Then in my 30's one night 4 guys attempted to do a home invasion in my brand new home in a gated community in a safe part of town..they nearly shot me to death as I ran out of my garage but I got lucky and they were terrible shots. . If you live in any metro area in this country...shite can and does happen. Everyone has to judge for themselves if carrying a firearm is the right call. I carried for a while after that incident and still do sometimes when I go out in the evenings. As I stated earlier Its not worth the risk for me to carry when I go out with my kids.

Well, stop that. But people giving away guns out of fear is the wrong solution to remediate the risk.
When I would carry I always kept it chambered. I certainly dont leave them laying around chambered or otherwise anymore nor do I suggest giving them away. I just stopped carrying every day since I have young kids and their friends around all the time I feel like it isnt worth the risk.

Not to hijack the thread, but has anyone been to Sammy’s lately? The parking lot always looks empty but I haven’t been in a while, usually just go to George’s for lunch now when I do go anywhere.
Its okay but I d rather get the same offerings(fried seafood poboy, burger, etc...) pretty much anywhere else. I still hit the old bar area for a drink every once in while for nostalgia.

Its the reason I often went to Sammy's like three times week when they were good. It was the perfect little neighborhood bar and grill. Georges makes a fine burger but they dont compare to Sammy's in its heyday. Now a days I mostly hit Matherne's plate lunch line.

This is the reason I mostly stopped carrying while I had young children. I did not trust myself to always... immediately put the gun back in the safe every time I returned home. Especially with kids I was afraid of getting distracted and setting it down for second to unload groceries or some other distraction and a tragedy may occur. I would still carry occasionally for late night gas station runs but not every day.
