Will Guillory: “Willie Green says Brandon Ingram started feeling discomfort in his knee today. Says there won't be an update until tomorrow.”
Here we fricking go. Update tomorrow will be that he’ll be “re-evaluated” in two weeks (which means a multi-month injury). Then we’ll wake up one day in mid-February and realize he’s only played like 13 total games. I legit don’t understand how this keeps happening. He had all summer to rest and we were only two games into the season.
I know the common response is “bro I’d rather sit him now so he can play later into the season”. But that is NEVER how it materializes. These dudes need to just frickin play even if they are like 80% some days.

He's at least going to get it scoped for sure.

In 2019 Zion missed the start of his rookie year in what the team deemed “knee soreness” later it was told he tore his meniscus and was out for a while. My gut tells me for BI, this isn’t run of the mill “miss 3-4 games” knee soreness. But the fact, Willie didn’t even say hes day to day aftee the game and there won’t be an update till tomorrow scares me its something serious.

- he was technically practicing and playing with Team USA this summer. So he had more of a workload on his knee this offseason than others.

Agreed. I would t expect him back soon

Starting 2-0, studs playing well, role players taking next step, offense clicking. Immediately BI is hurt and lose by 20 to the Warriors to dump cold water all over the hype.
I fricking hate this franchise sometimes.

- maybe its time for us to question us bringing back the same players who constantly get injured?? Just like any fan I get sucked into the excitement and then poof reality hits me as a pelicans fan.

Nobody thats ever played an extended period for this franchise, except for maybe JV, has ever stayed healthy.
This franchise could bring in prime Lebron, Kareem, Karl Malone, Stockton, and Cal Ripken and they'd manage to play 10 games together in 5 years.
Constant injuries are the only real history this franchise has.

so reevaluate in two weeks?
This is the guy the doctors AND our conservative arse training staff cleared to play, and he continued to sit out 3 additional weeks.
More like reevaluation in 2 months.

Kind of like starting 2-0 last year, colliding with your own player in what seemed like nothing at the time in the first quarter of game 3, sitting out the rest of that game then missing the next 4 b/c somehow you got a “concussion”.

It's probably bad karma for all the Lakers clap threads

Predict the BI update.
I say nothing structural, re-evaluated in 2 weeks.
After the 2 weeks, he is still experiencing soreness so they do a scope. Out 8-12 weeks

Out 8-12 weeks
After the 8-12 weeks he’s mentally not feeling better, out another 3-5 weeks.
Comes back just in time to finish out the season and shoot 10 midranges a game to convince every one of his Stans that he belongs on this team.

Better hope he comes back this season and balls the F out so we can get some trade value for him

There is no such thing as a two week injury with this team. Naji has a bone bruise, literally no structural damage, just a simple pain tolerance issue. We got an update this week that it will take him another two weeks just to "recondition." There is an injury/rehab culture problem with this team. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be any better with the rehab staff restructure.
We are simply missing too much production right now to be competitive night in and night out. Not many teams can survive with 4 of their top 10, including one of your top 2, guys out.

BI, steady decline in games played since his rookie season

BI and Zion combo is not working. That’s all I know

And only one of then is a top 10 player when healthy, so the other one needs to go.

There was a clip floating around twitter yesterday with Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett talking about the Pels and of course Pierce brings up health and Zion. KG went on a rant basically saying "frick doctors" and that the doctors are the problem LINK
