John Reed-USA TODAY Sports
Multiple sources have reported that former LSU running back John Emery Jr. is withdrawing his name from the NCAA transfer portal and will return to the team next season for his sixth year with the Tigers.

Emery Jr. recently graduated from LSU.

The St. Rose, La. native was a true freshman on the 2019 National Championship team but missed his junior season in 2021 due to eligibility issues. Most recently, Emery Jr. suffered a season-ending injury against Florida during his fifth-year senior year in 2023.

He played in 37 games over the last five years and rushed for 1062 yards and 14 touchdowns.

The play he got hurt on shows exactly how special he could be. Heart of a Tiger, no one should question him on that front. It’s obvious Kelly is okay with him coming back.

I’m pulling for Emory. The run that he got injured on was top shelf.
Hopefully he comes back fully healthy.

John, in 10-12 years you will look back at this as the most important decision you made in your entire life. I had feared you were tiger bait, but now you will always be a tiger in my book.

Just go out there this season with a chip on your shoulder, set some records, win a natty, and head to the first round of the NFL draft. With any luck, Burrow will be handing you the rock.

Here’s hoping he has an injury free and fantastic final year at LSU.

Incredible the number of people trashing this when he can only help the team. I'd feel bad for these people, but deep down they already know they suck. Go fricking get em, John!

I had high hopes for this guy when he got here back in the mid 90’s. Hopefully he can live up to the hype this year.

He has taken up a roster spot for the better part of a decade…it is time to get some productivity out of him. Glad he is staying for another year.

He announces that he’s transferring and y’all sh!t all over him.

He announces that he’s coming back and now he’s a legend.

Gotta love fans.

And LOL at him having graduated.

I didn't see many people give him flack honestly. They basically understood he was likely to miss part of the season and wished him well. Freaking pumped he's gonna finish his college career a Tiger though.
