We played risky passes all night

The crazy thing is that we didn't really play many risky balls. We couldn't complete many basic passes and Belgium was reading everything we were doing.
quote:

Agreed. But how would you feel about going back to Golden goal

Nah, penalties are more fun.

When is the last time we had a short stop and weren't picking up trash off the starters heap?

Sale is our ace and we can't score when he pitches

Alex is a genius

All we had to do was not get into a pissing contest with Freddie, and use the package we put together for Olson to instead use it on a SS to follow Dansby leaving.

Instead, we've been rolling with Orlando Arcia, Nick Allen, HSK, Jim Jarvis, Jorge Mateo for the last 4 seasons

Has to be a better way to decide a soccer match

Why?

They had 120 minutes to decide it.
We're not a good baseball team, guys.

I thought we built enough of a cushion that it was unfathomable, even with our shitty June, for us to miss the playoffs. But with the way we're playing, combined by the teams behind us winning at the clip that they are.

I'm officially starting to think we somehow needed to do more than be the first team to 40 wins to combat how bad we are now and make the playoffs.
We were not in the game.

You know how I know?

Because Belgium played the whole second half in a low block, knowing that we couldn't break them down. Which was correct because for the entire match, we only had one shot on target from the run of play when we were chasing the result.

You're just basing your argument on feelings at this point and that's fine.

There is definitely someone doing that in this thread

that not literally what he did in the second half and did it not create the intended outcome until the 3rd goal?

Considering we had just one shot on target in the second half no.

We had more of the ball because Belgium’s tactics allowed us to have more of the ball.
quote:

Break that out after the first 10 minutes and after the game was over and it would tell a completely different story.

Jesus Christ someone didn’t watch the game or, at the very least, has no idea what they watched
quote:

a formation or change of tactics doesn't address the sloppiness,

It can most certainly mitigate a lot of it.

That’s how this sport works
quote:

Again, you can debate whether that is on the players or the coach

If every single player looks like shite, it’s on the coach
quote:

How do you distinguish a tactics change directed by coaches vs players executing?

By watching the game
quote:

So your expectation was for him to sub players, with all our depth, 10 minutes into the game?

Changing tactics does not mean subbing players champ
quote:

The game was literally tied at 31 minutes. Yes we looked like shite, but you wanted him to panic and blow up the entire game plan based

Yes, great coaches are proactive, not reactive.

It was obvious 10 minutes in that we were out of our depth.

Pepi "emerged" this cycle as he wasn't on our World Cup roster in Qatar

He emerged last cycle with a bang, then fell off the deep end right before Qatar.

the assumption heading into this WC is that he's an elite level player. In hindsight, that was homerism.

I think he is elite at his position. But he's not an elite world class player if that makes sense.

You said he was overrated, which is not the case.
