Poor candidate choices by the GOP all around, especially the Senate race in Mississippi.

Hindsight is a helluva drug. Maybe Vance et al should have thought about all of this 12 months ago.

Seems like he has been speaking out about it all along.

Now he's going to work with the same party that tried to tank his agenda and assassinate him.

Dude is a clown and I voted for him 3 times

He is a survivor though, and he will blow with the wind that benefits him. I hope everybody now knows that he is total fraud and always has been. I bet he will release a bunch of Epstein files that exposes some of his "friends that might get hurt". He will throw anyone under the bus now. Everyone is fair game to save himself.

If you'd like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next 6 years was worth it, then do so.

6 years? Is that the outlook? Yikes.

Trump is completely toxic and it’s over for him and whatever support he has left.

This is what I have always had a hard time understanding when it comes to the support Trump has had. He is who he is. He knows how to work a crowd and he seems to be a very personable guy, but throughout the years, especially in the 1990s, he seems to be someone who will eventually mess things up. It seems to be an impulse control situation and in the moment he might say things that later on he probably thinks "well maybe I shouldn't have said that"... or "I shouldn't have done that".

At times it seems like he has made decisions without considering all angles of it.. Which is normally what advisors are for, but if he has something in his head.. It doesn't matter what advisors say to him, he will do it.

I have no idea how accurate that is, I am just saying to me that's how it seems with him. He will get something done and do it in a "not business as usual" sort of way and that is good if he was doing it in terms of "what is best for the country and its citizens", but that is not the case all the time. I think there are people who can easily influence him and whatever they influence him to do isn't in the best interest of the citizens of the US. Its usually in the best interest of whoever is influencing him.

DeSantis don't seem as impulsive as Trump. A president shouldn't be impulsive.

Marco Rubio will be a very strong candidate. I agree.

Rubio will be tainted most by the war in Iran as far as candidates currently in the Trump inner circle imo

vance and ron d already coming out against the war. that's the right direction. but too late.

At some point the unvarnished truth is going to surface about who convinced Trump the time to attack Iran was in late February of 2026.

I have serious doubts if a majority of Trump's closest advisors were on board with the military operation against Iran. Someone or some other entity (maybe both) convinced Trump to move against Iran knowing full well the Trump presidency would likely be over with in doing so. In the end it was Trump's decision to attack Iran and Trump/MAGA has paid a high price at the ballot box.

I doubt Vance was on board with Iran in the first place. Trump thinking he could turn the spigot on in Venezuela and pump millions
of barrels to offset the Hormuz gap was dumb. If he attacks Iran and successfully keeps the straight open we aren’t having this conversation. Now Vance has to try to unfrick the quagmire Trump left him in. Good luck. The DNC isn’t going to run a AOC or Newsom vs Vance. They could go with a number of “moderates” who can simply retweet their “we don’t want war with Iran” posts and voila.

The best thing Vance could do for himself, and arguably the country, is to be attacked and isolated by Trump. It would remove the Trump stench attached to him currently. I think JD is trying to get Trump to attack him.

The responses to him are brutal, and echo this board.
No arrests for Covid
No save act
No laptop or stolen election arrests
Not codifying doge
Etc

Those responses are from the people who voted red, and are therefore NOT the reason we lost. Vance was mostly right; the reason we lost was the war, and there is one more reason Vance probably knows but won’t say publicly: that DJT has grated on most people’s last nerve with his hatred, vitriol and bragging.

Good. He needs to. His tough love stance on Israel was a good beginning.

Exactly.

Saying you lost because you're incompetent and did the opposite of what you said you'd do if elected doesn't endear you to normal people with a functioning brain.

Vance posting that tells me where his head has been at all along but is only now free to speak his mind.

It was a good thing to write and one that might save his career politically. The next two years for him will be rough when he gets it from both Trump and the Dems.
