Those responses are from the people who voted red, and are therefore NOT the reason we lost. Vance was mostly right; the reason we lost was the war, and there is one more reason Vance probably knows but won’t say publicly: that DJT has grated on most people’s last nerve with his hatred, vitriol and bragging.

It was the war AND the economy/cost. Both combined with Trump vitriol led to the blue tsunami.

He is getting frickin fried in the comments

Dude has a long way to go to try to get the Trump stink off him

Probably should’ve stuck with rebuking “America’s hitler” instead of licking his boots

The responses to him are brutal, and echo this board.
No arrests for Covid
No save act
No laptop or stolen election arrests
Not codifying doge
Etc

These responses don't matter

What lost this is the single issues crowd.. low info voters who don’t look or care about tomorrow as long as they have today

No, that’s the reaction to “what lost this”

What lost this was

1) War
2) No focus on cost of living/inflation
3) Not putting America First
4) Not changing our relationship to Israel

I think JD is trying to get Trump to attack him.

I don't think he's actively trying to get Trump to attack him but he's not worried if it does happen.

He's done a great job at keeping himself distanced from Trump so far. He didn't try to weasel back in when everyone was talking about Trump making Rubio "his guy" when this Iran shite first popped off. Looks like a really solid play now.

Vance posting that tells me where his head has been at all along but is only now free to speak his mind.

That's bullshite. Vance has always been free to speak his mind, because he is literally the only person in the executive branch that Trump can't fire. He should have grown a set and acted like it.

People like that guy are perpetually wrong, never in doubt and ironically got Trump elected twice.

I agree with you on your final point. But also recognize there’s nuance in what you put out to the public as the Vice President when the base is already fractured. I’m not sure what path he could have taken otherwise. Tweet opposition to the war against his own president?

trump is toxic. jd should distance himself from trump, anyone attached to him is cooked in 2028. will be interesting to see if if jd makes it the next two years as vp.

JD is in the unique position of being the only person who Trump cannot "fire".

No doubt Trump can make life miserable for him, but he can't remove him from his office (as far as I know).

Also, Massie had a pretty funny response to Vance's tweet:

Hindsight is a helluva drug. Maybe Vance et al should have thought about all of this 12 months ago.

Vance is a team player, but he has been one of the most obvious "anti-war" voices in the administration, in both word and deed, along with Tulsi Gabbard.

This is what I have always had a hard time understanding when it comes to the support Trump has had. He is who he is. He knows how to work a crowd and he seems to be a very personable guy, but throughout the years, especially in the 1990s, he seems to be someone who will eventually mess things up. It seems to be an impulse control situation and in the moment he might say things that later on he probably thinks "well maybe I shouldn't have said that"... or "I shouldn't have done that".

At times it seems like he has made decisions without considering all angles of it.. Which is normally what advisors are for, but if he has something in his head.. It doesn't matter what advisors say to him, he will do it.

I have no idea how accurate that is, I am just saying to me that's how it seems with him. He will get something done and do it in a "not business as usual" sort of way and that is good if he was doing it in terms of "what is best for the country and its citizens", but that is not the case all the time. I think there are people who can easily influence him and whatever they influence him to do isn't in the best interest of the citizens of the US. Its usually in the best interest of whoever is influencing him.

DeSantis don't seem as impulsive as Trump. A president shouldn't be impulsive.

Good summary. I really liked Trump and wanted him to be successful, but he did so many things that just left me shaking my head.

Look no further back than a month ago with his selection of that blond bubble-head to be his new press secretary.

In the greater scheme of things, that was a very minor screw-up, but still, how did that even happen???

At some point the unvarnished truth is going to surface about who convinced Trump the time to attack Iran was in late February of 2026.

I have serious doubts if a majority of Trump's closest advisors were on board with the military operation against Iran. Someone or some other entity (maybe both) convinced Trump to move against Iran knowing full well the Trump presidency would likely be over with in doing so. In the end it was Trump's decision to attack Iran and Trump/MAGA has paid a high price at the ballot box.

It is well known that Vance and Gabbard were against it.

Pretty sure Hegseth was for it because he relished the opportunity to call himself "Secretary of War".

Ultimately, it was the alliance of Bibi, Jared Kushner, and MBS that sold Trump on the idea of the full-scale attack on Iran.

They should have waited until after the midterms. It would have worked out much better for the Republicans.
