Our family was returning to Baton Rouge from a camping trip to Big Bend national park in Texas in 1971. There are volunteer groups that trap, spay & neuter feral cats at no cost to the public. They also feed these animals regularly when they return them, usually to the same place they were trapped. These programs are very successful. Speaking of rats, many restaurants and seafood shops are very grateful to have several "fixed" feral/semi-feral cats on their grounds because they keep the rodent population under control.
