Mixed (Male/Female) track events
Did not realize this was a thing.

Like it. Looking forward to seeing these.

Is this a solution to the “T” of LGBTQ community having space for competition?

Not without including a T specific leg. Mixed events have a required number of male and female legs so you are right back into the same boat.

I was wondering the same thing. I watched a swimming relay earlier and it adds a different element because each team chooses the order, so one team starts a male and gets out to a big lead, but then the other teams play catch up when their males swim. It was interesting to say the least.

For swimming there’s going to be a lot of experimenting with what orders create the best results. And who’s strongest in what areas.

They have been doing for a couple of years at various track meets. It is more entertaining when the teams try out different combinations, but most use MFFM. The Polish did MMFF for one race and it resulted in Michael Cherry blowing past the anchor leg to get the win

At the World Relays they also had a 2x2x400m mixed relay with two runners alternating on the 400m legs. Kenya and one other team started with the male runners, and it worked for awhile until Brazier did his thing.

I like them. One thing these races do is show ,clearly, the difference between men and women

The US crapped the bed with this one.
Dressel doing the fly and someone like Ledecky in the free would have been better.

no it’s just a fun event.

I want them to add more events like this though. A mixed 4x100 and hurdle shuttle relay would be fun.

These races show off just how absolutely elite these male sprinters are.

Make no mistake, the women in the Olympics are not slow. They are beating 98% of the posters on this board in a race, no matter the distance.

Yet in a 400, the men are basically 100m faster than the women. That is so insane to me.

98% is low.

I don't think we need to give swimmers and sprinters a chance to win 17 medals in one games. It's getting crazy.
