And JUCOs. They keep tabs on a lot of Louisiana HS kids that end up going JUCO. Similar to Harden this year, I think they're going to keep an eye on Clapinski at LSUE.

Cool

That makes me feel better about it.
Coach Johnson is the best recruiter in the nation in my opinion. My only point is that I think the culture of this team will suffer in the long run if the players are 90% out of state players. If you only take one or two in state guys every year that’s where we’re heading.

Does anyone know why the Frederico kid is leading off for ole Miss or the Courville kid from barbe aren’t at LSU?

Did they not want to be at LSU or were they not offered?
We won’t have many at all after a few recruiting cycles like this.
I just looked at the 2026 class. Looks like quite a few draft risks, but what really stands out is only one Louisiana recruit. There has to be more than one kid worthy of an offer. We only got two this cycle. I know some don’t put stock into having hometown players, but I think you need more than that.
Come back and be all time home run leader. He only needs like 17 more.
I just read today’s bleacher report mock draft. It has Fauske going #34 and Young going #41. Hopefully we don’t lose too many. We’ve pretty fortunate getting players to campus recently.

How much do you think he will command this year?
Maybe lsu could come close to it.

Jared Jones might not get drafted too high and with a big signing bonus.

What if a nice NIL deal and the chance to be LSU all time home run leader could get him back for a senior year?

I know it’s not probable, but maybe.

Oklahoma’s catcher

He looked like he was in slow motion when he was framing pitches. It was horrible, but the worst part is the umpire was falling for it. It was really bad.
Thanks
Maybe one day college baseball will be more accessible to everyone. It continues to grow in popularity.
I think Jay is one of the top coaches and recruiters in the nation. His work ethic is second to none, but there has got to be room for more than 4 Louisiana players on your roster over 2 recruiting cycles.

Either way I’m excited for the season and hope both of the these classes are major successes.

It would be interesting to see how many recruiting classes in the last 30 years has had only one LA player in it.
Is there zero talent from Louisiana for 2025 and 2026?

Jay has 3 commitments from LA in 25 and only 1 for 26. That’s 4 out of 35 total HS recruits, or approximately 11%.

I get that it’s good to be a national powerhouse, but I will always say that you need LA kids on these teams.

I am not criticizing him. I think he’s awesome as a recruiter and coach, but the lack of Louisiana players committed is unusual.

Off the top of my head LA major contributors to the 23 Championship:

Beloso, Morgan, Dugas, Jobert, Milazzo, Travinski, Pearson, Guidry and Garret Edwards.

Let’s go get the best players nationally, but not forget about the hometown guys while we’re at it.

FSU went 13-0 last year. They got a QB in transfer portal. How did that work out?

Their transfer did not work out this year, but they went 13-0 the year before with Jordan Travis, who was a transfer.

This list should be eye opening

Posted by hessmersaint on 11/24/24 at 2:57 am
1. Dillon Gabriel (Oregon)
2. Will Howard (Ohio St)
3. Quinn Ewers (Texas)
4. Kurtis Rourke (Indiana)
5. Riley Leonard (Notre Dame)
6. Cam Ward. (Miami)
7. Jackson Dart. (Ole Miss)
8. Jake Retzlaff. (BYU)
9. Shedeur Sanders (Colorado)
10. Sam Leavitt (Arizona St)
11. Luke Altmayer (Illinois)
12. Hajj Williams. (UNLV)

What do they have in common?
They all transferred to their current school.

All of these teams came into this weekend ranked in the AP top 25.

After today it looks like 6 or 7 of the 12 playoff teams will be lead by transfer QB’s.

Last spring I posted here that I thought LSU should use the portal for QB’s and focus high school recruiting on O Line, D Line and defensive backs.

I was called an idiot for those statements.

There will always be major QB talent in the portal bc only one can start for each team. It’s way harder to come by elite linemen in the portal.

I will always be skeptical of paying the majority of NIL funds for a QB who is coming straight from high school, no matter how highly ranked they are.
