On a dropped third strike, the first baseman can use either bag to record the out once he has taken possession of the ball after the throw down from the catcher.
There are two situations its legal. I was wondering why they didnt challenge it. Still holds truth about our fans.

Did you see Serna play first? It was awful. Had no idea who was cutoff or where to be and missed a play at first costing us a run by not stretching a little. This is not the MLB where you can “hide” a hitter at 1st.

In the Pros. But it is still valuable in college. Not as valuable as some other positions but in college you need a defensive first baseman. LSU only has Yorke. We saw how bad Serna played it. Will take a lot of time to change and may be too late now.
