Louisiana civil servants aren't allowed to publicly support politicians or donate to campaigns or political parties. It's because of a retarded interpretation of the law that defines "private" to mean they're allowed to support things in literal privacy rather than "as private citizens and not in their official capacity at work." It's a huge first amendment violation and would get picked apart if anyone ever chose to take it on.

Not a state law, but city ordinances against fireworks.

Got warned by a LEO last 4th of July that my kids couldn’t do sparklers, fountains, or anything else in the driveway. Said we needed to go outside the city limits if we wanted to do anything.

Our slow speed limits, we aren’t in the 1940s anymore vehicles can brake and accelerate well. Texas was intelligent enough to realize in order to meet traffic flow demands you either needed to A speed up the flow to meet the demand in the desired time frame or B increase the size of the passage to allow more flow. Louisiana’s solution is put useless state troopers in high traffic areas causing people to hit brakes and cause slow downs and more wrecks.

That pissed me off when I worked for the state, probably irrationally so since I’m not very politically involved. I just thought it was BS that the state is telling me I can’t put a sign in my yard or wear a “make America great” tshirt.

I want to say there was a court case in recent history that the employee won covering this but I’d have to research it.

Seat belt. Some mf’er can get on a crotch rocket and kill himself, and I can’t even kill myself in my Silverado.

My favorite is when a douchebag State Trooper writes a ticket for this while he's riding a motorcycle

Allowing women to vote.
I take that back. It's actually way more of a problem in other states.

The whole process of buying used or classic vehicles is a PITA because we are the only state in the gulf south that requires notaries to get involved. The whole titling system in a nutshell along with the laws that created it suck.

Never understood how when every other year inspection sticker was so tough to do for people.

Even when it was annual, it was a simple event.

The criminal statute entitled Theft of Crawfish. La. RS 14:67.5

Because crawfish needed its own statutory prohibition.

Regular theft just wouldn’t do the trick.
