I’m unsure that this would work today. When I was in high school over 40 years ago, the female students essentially refused to change clothes and engage in PE class. Seems they wouldn’t have time at the end of class to do their hair and makeup again the way they liked.

The biggest reason PE gets cut is funding issues so unless he's going to also draft a proclamation that magically pays for the teachers and equipment needed (as well as insurance for sending kids up the rope) this shite is never going to happen.
Zero equipment need to run laps, do pushups, and body squats.

Since when did PE get removed from school?
New one on me.

Amazing none of us have ver got hurt climbing ropes, jungle gyms or those eagles nests (whatever they are called). We only had 15 min recess 2x day I think, but it’s good way to burn off energy. Elementary school. Upper was regular time and more structured.

I loved PE in school. It was a good break from regular classes and it was so much fun. Even the ones that hated it eventually came around.

It’s amazing how even encouraging kids to get 45 minutes of exercise a day can become politically divisive, depending on who’s proposing it.
At this point, it’s hard to imagine this country ever turning a corner.

every kid should have 1 hour of PE every single day, Pre-K through 12th.
should be structured exactly the same across the nation. similar to Gymnastics strength training or the La Seirra program and the fed gov should pay for the upgrades across the schools to make it happen
I support this 100% but I’m not sure it’ll happen. I definitely agree that PE has become a joke in most schools, especially public schools. The problem is it’s underfunded so you’ve got 1 or 2 PE teachers for the whole school which means you’ve got PE classes with 70+ kids in the gym, no chance you’re getting anything done it’s just a waste of time. Even if we bring back the Presidential Fitness test (I’ve got several of those t-shirts from back in the day

We’ve pushed to eliminate anything but the “testable” subjects and it got lost with arts and humanities as well.
People are healthier when they’re well-rounded.
This is the bigger problem, and it’s in nearly every school I’ve worked in. Administrators today are judged solely on Math and Reading scores, so everything else is low priority and falls behind. You have some AWESOME arts, humanities, athletic teachers etc… but they don’t get the support or the funding they need most of the time. In fact in some schools if they do well it’s almost a nuisance to the admin because it costs money and takes away from “real school” time.
It’s a real problem IMO, when you look back at your time in school, do you remember fondly your math test or whatever extra curricular you were involved in?

That isn't what is happening. Nobody is mad about encouraging kids to exercise.
PE is still in schools. My kids have PE and recess. No idea why the OP titled his thread the way he did (yes I do).
The Obama program that replaced the Presidents Test was intended to be a more self oriented fitness test, as opposed to a test against your peers.
I don't really care one way or the other as neither program as any material affect on a kids fitness, but don't misrepresent what is actually being debated (self test vs peer test).

When you showed up for first grade at Punahou school in Hawaii, they would ask if you could swim. If you said "yes," you had to go do a swimming test. If you said "no," you started a daily swim class. Once the non-swimmers learned to swim, we all had "swim" at least two days a week. It created some good muscle memory - I went swimming at a hotel and still readily remembers the breast stroke and side stroke.
The shallow end of the big pool at Punahou was six feet deep.

Gets rid of 4M welfare recipients
Deports illegal truck drivers and illegal aliens
Cuts government as much as he possibly can
In talks to reform Social Security and possibly privatize it
But the board Democrats and closeted Democrats, who also can't do math, still hate him.
Remember, almost 49% voted for Harris.
There's a lot more weak, stupid people than we realize.

Even if we bring back the Presidential Fitness test (I’ve got several of those t-shirts from back in the day ), how is a coach going to administer it properly to 70 1st and 2nd graders in a gym?
so the football coach can do it, we can do it in bootcamp but suddenly the PE teacher cant? and there are not many 70+ gym classes.
but even if so, you line them up in rows and you get your warm ups done including jumping jacks, your mountain climbers, your pushups, your mountain climbers, then get on your back and do situps or crunchs, flutter kicks, frog pump hip thrust, then stand up and do squats, lunges etc completed aka calisthenics. Exactly as La Sierra did it
then get them in lines and get them going on Chin up bars and parallel bars. not that hard

im fine with that, math is the most important thing. there are dozens of studies that show physical education before those classes helps test scores so that is how you sell it.

well i was the nerdy jock and am an engineer now who loves to lift weights....im not exactly the one to ask on this
but to answer both, my favorite thing was kicking everyones arse in around the world in math to the point the other kids in the class would ask if we could move on because it wasnt fair. that happened all the way through 8th grade
i also remember fondly finishing test early and getting and hour just to sit and read my book i was reading at the time
but favorite memories were in PE or Recess of course.
