Standardized tests are one of the few admissions tools that don’t care who your parents are, what school board approved your inflated GPA, or how poetic your essay about “overcoming adversity as a BIPOC” was. A math score is a math score.
The UC STEM faculty aren’t asking to bring back aristocracy. They’re asking whether a kid applying for STEM can actually do the math required for STEM. You hate it, I know, we all know.

Two or three years ago, if this had been posted, a few OT Moderates would’ve at least asked why we cared; if they didn’t outright suggest it wasn’t outside the realm of possibility for a man to get period cramps.

Because fixing it would require telling large groups of useless people “no,” shrinking agencies, cutting benefits, taking away power from bureaucrats, and surviving the biased lopsided media screaming that you want grandma dead, children starving, minorities oppressed, and immigrants hunted for sport.
Not exactly a winning platform to run on.
