I'm staying up all night for this one

I don't have a choice on that front.

I'll sleep from 6-10 on sunday evening if I can.

After that it'll probably be 24-36 hours awake making sure family is alright. Getting the wife out of BR. And clearing shite.

And that's if everything goes perfectly and I dont lose the house

My conundrum is does my family stay with my 85 year old mother in St. Amant where she has a whole house generator or bring her to my home in Prairieville that is made of brick and sturdier.

As someone whom has loved hurricanes since he was a little kid scared of Andrew, this one does "feel different".

I’d agree. And I hope I’m wrong. Andrew was particularly scary for 7 year old me, although our neighborhood was hit by at least one tornado that day.

A couple of predictions have 110+ mph winds in Baton Rouge. That has never happened before. And I would strongly consider evacuating if I were there, depending on if that is backed up by the next report.

Going from a Cat 3 to Cat 4 close to shore seems odd to me.

The one that hit Mexico Beach near Panama city seems like it speeded up when ii got close to shore.

The Westbound backup appears to start right after to cross the Amelia Bridge, then smooths out once you cross the Atchafalaya into Berwick.

Might be able to take Business 90 in Amelia and possibly avoid most of that going through the heart of Morgan City, but that's just from looking at the Green/Orange/Red on Google Maps.

Looks to be a huge backup on 90 in Morgan City, people traveling Westbound to cross the Atchafalaya Bridge to Berwick.

Passed through there yesterday. They are doing construction on the bridge and it’s down to one lane. Bad timing for that.

Am I crazy for staying in NOLA for this one? We don't flood and for every storm in the past ten years our power has been back up in less than a day.

Additional info - my in-laws are staying so I'd have to convince them to head out too.

Alternative would be to leave at midnight or later tonight to head east.

IMO, ride storm out in stronger house(if no trees) then go to generator house after storm passes

Doing the same. My house has no trees. Will ride out there. Once storm passes will go to my parents to use generator and keep food from spoiling.

Based on current track staying in NOLA isn’t crazy.

.If I lived in BR outside of any flood zone and in a sturdy structure I’d stay. There is a saying that I believe applies here: “ Hide from winds, run from water”. You can hunker down and protect yourself from high winds but you need to get away from rising water.
