Graduated from Georgia
that would have to explain why those chicken tenders were so extraordinarily bland

this is what appears to summarize LSU’s basketball identity these days. At least that is the perception.
It’s March 14th and Matt McMahon still has a job. WTF?

Agreed. Just coming to say the same. So far this is clearly Jay’s worst team.

Why are they in shambles
exactly- the longer MM goes without being fired the better his chances
I think it’s because he’s not getting fired, plain and simple. But that means another thing plain and simple and that is the LSU no longer cares about men’s basketball! If he isn’t fired then it screams LSU DOES NOT GIVE A DAMN about it’s only money making sport besides football! Ridiculously sad and frustrating.
I think NC State right now is clearly the better program.

agreed. Especially if they are not an experienced proven winner

really don’t see any reason to drag this out there’s nothing to think about we’ve had months to decide. Pull the trigger and be done with it
this is what I’m saying. There is no need to drag this out. There has been 4 years to evaluate and decide. If it needs to happen it needs to happen asap so the coaching search can begin and players can know and make decisions accordingly. If it starts to drag out that means it’s not happening, in my opinion. But I’m also not convinced that LSU cares enough to bite the bullet and make the change.
Earlier I said if McMahon isn’t fired I won’t be shocked. Now I’m starting to lean towards, if he is fired I’ll be surprised. He really should have been fired today. Tomorrow is it. If it doesn’t happen tomorrow LSU is screaming loud and clear that it does not give a rats arse about basketball.

Either way McMahon will not be the coach tomorrow.
I’m not so sure. Since LSU very clearly doesn’t care about men’s basketball and getting rid of him will be expensive (thanks Woodward!) I will not be shocked if he’s kept on. Severely frustrated yes, but shocked? No.
Yes- he definitely deserves another year. He’s a nice guy. He needs 5 years to build a program to his standards. Next year the excitement and momentum built this year will be thru the roof!
It may not actually happen. I have a growing suspicion that they are going to keep him another year. Several individuals and/or entities have come out in support. And since LSU has shown that they don’t really care about basketball it will not surprise me if he gets another year.

They circled the wagons last year with the whole “underfunded roster” argument. They have nothing left.
I hope you’re right, but I have an increasing sense that LSU is about to prove once and for all that they don’t care at all about basketball, and it’ll be a huge mistake!
I’m beginning to think the Athletic Dept is getting various media/social media on board with the idea of keeping him to prepare the fan base, what’s left of it, to keep him on., because they literally cannot financially afford to fire him. But I would argue and most LSU Basketball fans would agree, that we really can’t afford to keep him.

is pathetic. Under McMahon, we’ve finished 14th, tied for 7th, 15th, and 16th in the SEC. See the trend here? The guy simply cannot and will not get it done here. It’s time to make a change—we cannot continue to sit here and let the rest of the conference run circles around us in the only profit-generating sport besides football.
agreed. And it was obvious at the end of last year. There was ZERO reason to keep him on for this year.

He really should have been fired last year, he proved by then all we needed to know

Hes had some really bad blow out losts this year by 30 points or more
maybe, just maybe he’s not such a good coach? :dunno:
