You will see $600/oz silver the technical analysts are pointing at April 2029.
I doubt it goes that high.
I think I have at least 90 silver eagles. So as awesome as $600/oz would be for me….it would be a disaster in so many other ways.

In her prime, she was a smoke show.

The lesbian thing? Maybe down south but in the Midwest and mountain west…Subarus are as ubiquitous as VW’s or Chevrolets. And the lesbians in my neighborhood that everyone talks about drive full sized domestic SUVs.
I’m wondering if what makes Subaru special still exists anymore. Most manufacturers have excellent all wheel drive systems now. Their line of flat four engines aren’t as competitive as they used to be, and they will eventually succumb to the relentless and illogical push towards more and more strict emissions by various governments. That is going to hurt older engine designs.
The sports compact segment that made the WRX so sought after among younger guys seems to be evaporating. Mostly because I think that car’s target audience can’t afford anything now.
I agree that the Forester and Crosstrek are both very competitive now and seem to be popular and well designed. Their larger three row isn’t doing that well though. Forgot the name of it.
IMO they made a mistake making the new Outback so large. The beauty of a boxer engine is that it has a lower center of gravity which helped the car handle a little better. That’s sort of undermined if they stick that power plant into what is becoming a minivan sized crossover.
re: Why do people hate Subaru
Posted by dewster on 12/8/25 at 8:14 am to travelgamer
We had an 2014 Outback for 8 years. It was very reliable, but when we lived in Pittsburgh in the mountains and had to navigate that area’s notoriously short, old school on ramps….we found that the flat four engine was a little weak and had to be rev’d very high to move the car. As a consequence it burned some oil, which is common for flat fours under stress.
That oil burn stopped when we moved to Chicago, which was flatter and had more modern highways that didn’t require 0-60 acceleration immediately.
Overall I have no issues with Subaru. They are safe AF. With a set of winter tires, they are unbeatable in even severe winter weather. The new 2026 Outbacks are hideous though.

What this is doing is eliminating the push to invest heavily in EV’s and preserve ICE’s in their current state for an extra decade.
We need to roll back the Obama era rules and crash safety targets to get the original Defender and 70 series Land Cruiser to the US market. If we do I’m buying one.

Don’t tell me about your work issues.
The two places I frequent enough to know almost the whole staff does this. I don’t really mind. It’s funny to me.
But it would be weird if it were a place where I didn’t know any of the employees.
I guess OBJ never learned to read the room at LSU.
Get dirt moving on the new Mississippi River bridge and I might consider voting for Landry. Otherwise frick no.
re: Someone explain to me the allure of Disney

At Disney now with my 5 year old. She liked Magic Kingdom for about 2-3 hours before she was overwhelmed by the crowds and lines.
I hate Magic Kingdom to my core. It got even worse since the last time we visited. My wife has a nostalgic thing for it. But the 5 year old doesn’t have the stamina for 12+ hours at a park and I have zero interest in anything the 5 year old doesn’t enjoy.
I would pay much more if it meant the crowds could actually be supported by the park. But I won’t come back for any price if the crowds remain like this. EPCOT likely won’t save this trip if the 5 year old can’t handle long waits and heavy crowds.

Might be easier to deal with now than in a decade when our enemies are more involved and our president ends up being some progressive jackass.

Maybe Ole Miss can change their mascot again to get their mind off of losing their coach during their best season.
Hope it works out. LSU may have caught the whale.

But Ruffino said he’s reading unconfirmed reports Lane has told assistants if they aren’t on the plane with him tomorrow then they won’t have a place on his staff in Baton Rouge.
If that’s true…it would explain the two plane rumors.
And Ole Miss will hate LSU even more then than already do for a generation.
I never lost one that wasn’t worth losing. I broke it off with some, got dumped by others.
All were good girls that just were not compatible. The one notable exception was a teacher whose name bubbled up in the news about 10 years after I broke up with her. Turns out she was a bad person…apparently I was too old for her even back then when I was 23.
I thank God I didn’t end up with that one. I am with a good one now.

The cheapest Amtrak seats are much bigger and more comfortable than coach class on an airplane. So if it’s for just DC-Boston - get the cheaper seats and you’ll be fine. General Admin in most cars of a class type so just pick some you like and enjoy the ride.
The higher end seats depends on the train. The Pennsylvanian doesn’t have many of the higher end seats - they have the older cars that rattle and shake as the train rolls past 100mph in New Jersey. The Acela has some very awesome stuff - all of the seats are better than in the Pennsylvanian. All of the Acela cars are much smoother than the Pennsylvanian - and the Acela moves faster and tilts in the turns.
The Pennsylvanian usually has a bar car with snacks and a little cafe but it’s not anything special.
The NEC part of Amtrak is one of the only routes where I think they are competitive with most airlines.

I agree.
And even with imperfect reserves and transportation infrastructure that is so broken it would be shocking even to Louisiana…..the size and scale of what they have is so vast that Venezuela WILL eventually be the focus of military conflict and outside influence from entities unfriendly to the US.

Why do you think the US Navy is stacking up off Venezuelas coast???? We're gonna "help" them seize this opportunity! (no pun intended) lol
Yep. Gerald Ford Carrier Strike Group is “exercising” off their coast now.
That’s what I am watching now and what triggered this thread. It baffles me that they got themselves in this position.
Ignoring their political instability and possible cultural incompatibility with accountability. A competent government would also be in an awkward position if they were seen as an economic competitor to the US but discouraged from being a closer trade partner with China. I’m sure their media and populace are highly manipulated right now.

Explain it to me like I graduated from an SEC school and slept through every class that didn’t directly contribute to my finding employment.
Venezuela has the world's largest proven oil reserves, estimated at 303 billion barrels. This accounts for roughly 17% of known global reserves in total and is more than five times the US's known reserves. There is more known reserves there than in Saudi Arabia. Venezuela should be the Kuwait of Central America - a rich, powerful, energy giant and trade hub that drives the regional economy for 100 years.
What about their system of government is so broken that they can’t exploit this? Why have they build their economy around the drug trade while over 90% of their citizens lack resources to pay for basic needs?
Is an absolute monarchy a better system for a developing economy like this with a propensity for corruption and conflict between factions (cartels, socialist radicals, etc.)?
