Local Chevy dealers don’t have a suburban under 82.

For 50k I’m looking at crossovers with a v6

Because money had gotten so cheap to borrow and car companies realized people are willing to take out 84 month loans on a vehicle.

It's insane. A midsized Japanese middle pack suv is 45-50.

Not sure what your situation is, but if patience is an option, I think you'll do well waiting. I've been watching for a truck I want. A few months ago the cheapest I could find the truck I want was $72k. Found one several weeks ago for $62k, and last week I found it for $56k. I'm in no rush and $56k still isn't quite enough to make me move. I'll be patient and watch.

Get a Tesla Model Y for 47K after the tax credit and not deal with a dealership.

Bingo.

I'll probably be in the market for a new (or used) car in the next few years, so I will occasionally look at possible options. The costs are insane. Particularly (or maybe it is just me) for full size trucks.

Since full sized luxury SUVs became $100K.

The higher trim Escalade is now $149,000. The Mercedes GLS63 is $140,000.
