Probably not directly addressing your point, but there are conservative people then "conservative" politicians.

I don't consider myself independent for what it's worth, but when talking politics with people, the ideology of being conservative is rarely supported by "conservative" or "republican" politicians. Some people can't separate the conservative voter's views from the republican candidate.

Additionally, I'd wager that most conservatives on here can find a few things they don't like about Trump, but doesn't mean you can't support him or like him as president.

Even if they are legit and say they need the money for materials, I go with them and pay for the material myself to have it delivered to my driveway/garage. I've done this with flooring, painting, whole house plumbing replacement and pool restoration including pavers/tile/pump and filter. I pay the labor costs either when milestones are met to my satisfaction or the job is complete and passes code inspections.

This is the way to do it. I'm all for helping someone get started with their business, but you gotta look out for yourself above anyone else. And if they have been in business for more than a year, they should have $2,000 to cover some portion of the next job's expenses.

Tell your friend good luck. When I put a pool in years ago the contractor was using my money to pay subs from his previous jobs. It caught up with him on my pool and the subs quit doing the work. One of the subcontractors filed a lien on my house since he never paid them for the gunite work. The $15,000 might not be all he loses if there are unpaid suncontractors. Even if work is being completed, the contractor could be guilty of not paying the subcontractors, leaving the home owner liable for payment or having a lien filed.

This is a messed up liability ladder. And I know it's true. But if you're paying the contractor, the subs should be looking for money from the GC and not the homeowner who has already paid.

I ran a small construction outfit last summer and I was adamant on not taking payment for product or services not quite rendered. Payment structure was homeowner friendly up front. First payment covered most material and a small amount of labor. Payment was due once material was delivered and the homeowner at least has that. Once a landmark was hit, the next payment was due which included the price of the remainder of the material and most of the labor. Always left 10% until job complete.

Requiring payment up front without anything to show for it is a red flag. Unfortunately it may be a $15k lesson here.

I quit the public range

I do not like going to public ranges. Accidents are relatively infrequent, but by god you see some stupid shite more often than I'm comfortable with. Fortunately my neighbor has an outdoor range that is a lot more comfortable.
Did the sign address upper deckers at all?
I tell my wife I wish I was deaf sometimes.

Damn closed captions somehow get turned on the TV with the accidental click of a button that I'm not familiar with on the remote and then it's fishing through 20 menu options to find the setting to turn it back off.

Yes, it is. The past four years of Biden’s presidency will be officially be deemed illegitimate and all of his policies will be reversed.

This is what I'm rooting for, but I'll be surprised if it happens. Ketanji Brown out, and Trump gets to pick. . .
Any time I hear of unrealistic returns, all I see is a ball of risk that won in the timeframe it was traded. For every stock that takes a huge run for a period, there are 100 others that absolutely tank. To your point, it isn't sustainable and 2 years isn't necessarily a predictor of the next 20 or 30.

If it were as easy as feeding AI a finely worded question to get a highly profitable result, there would be an onslaught of investors playing the same game.

Just seeing this thread. Great work! Only thing that comes to mind you may want in there is some type of overhead lift/winch.

I designed the trusses specifically to be able to add a gantry crane in there. It's not going to lift thousands of pounds, but some of my projects seem to run into the 200 - 400 lb range which is heavy enough that I can't just lift it up easily. The welder I believe is around 400 lbs and I move it in and out of my truck frequently. So I definitely need something to move a little bit of weight in there.

With a normal I Beam design without trusses, I was afraid to suspend much weight from the ceiling. The weight transfers straight to the joint at the peak, and pushes down to the walls outward. That's why I decided to build with actual trusses.

Really wish I knew structural engineering math. The trusses I designed I believe I could suspend 4 or 5000 lbs without an issue. I don't plan to do that, but my curiosity has me wondering what the failure point is. From what I've read, it seems that engineers are more concerned with deflection, more than failure. But I still wish I knew how much weight I could support safely. I have no clue how to go about finding an engineer that would tell me what I've done. Lol.

I've been working on framing the bathroom this weekend and getting the garage door working. I screwed the rails for the door to the frame this weekend and I'm going to have to slightly adjust them now. It got too tight in a couple of areas. I'll get more pictures added this afternoon.
Will you use the nail gun for other projects? On picket fences I like to use screws. More time and labor intensive, but they'll last longer. If you do go nail gun, make sure you get nails that have some sort of adhesive coating.

Future use of the nail gun would determine whether I decide to buy the nail gun or if I decide to use impact.

Been framing up a room and I've been using a nail gun. I don't know if it's just been awhile since I've used a nail gun or if this one is different, but it sounds like a gunshot going off. It plants the nail in the wood though which is all I need it to do.
You mind sharing which motorcycle forum is shutting down? Is it thumpertalk by chance?

What kind of hobbies are you thinking? How are you going to get electricity to it and are you going to cool it?
Assuming theyre trying to report on printing switches?

Everyone is a democrat until they have to pay taxes. Nobody in high school is paying taxes.
Guys, I can NOT fix her. Someone else will have to step up to the plate.
Democrats have a problem of a stale message. Everything racist, and all the phobics are long in the tooth.
What could go wrong. Give unqualified illegals permission to get behind a wrecking ball of a vehicle. And I imagine that "CDL" gives them an ID to vote.
I thought you left. Honestly you schtick is minimally comical to me. So I'm mildly amused your back.

Some people have cars they don't need, some people can't uphold commitments. We all have our weaknesses.
Do you know the other girls' parents. I remember my high school days and id tell my parents x and it couldn't be further from the truth some of the times. Be thankful your daughter respects you enough that she's honest with you.

And to directly answer your question no I would not be alright with that. So much that could go wrong and they dont have the life experience to know what qualifies as a threat and what doesnt.

my 99 year old Dad. He had all these skills, started out building cedar chests and other furniture in his teens, and is a skilled electrician, plumber and terrific carpenter, not bad for someone with a PhD in Chemistry. He built most of the house I grew up in, that he still lives in to this day.

Thats awesome man. My interests dont seem to fall in line with most people's interests. I hate traveling outside of a few places. Dont like watching much TV or movies or traveling. Im not the keast but stimulated visually outside of my eife being in front of me. My goal in life is to make my home my retreat. When im off a day all I want to do is make progress of some sort of my property and this is by far my biggest project.

How is your dad's health at 99? I sure hope i can be a relatively healthy 99 and still have some sort of energy to do something productive even if its in smaller spurts.

I work to live nit live to work and somehow managed to do well even not giving my work my life. I do work late nights and odd hours but infrequently enough it doesnt kill me.
