Why would I ever need to go to a mall in today’s world?

No need for the countdown. If this happened at the Galleria, we already know.

There could be some debate if it happened at the Summit or The Shops of Grand River. But being the Galleria, no need to guess. We already know.

Per AL-COM just now: “ A fight in the Riverchase Galleria food court Friday afternoon led to one person being shot.

so once again some fool posts "mass shooting" without the slightest idea of whether or not its remotely true?

I haven't lived in that area in 20+ yrs but late 90's/early 00's the turn started.

Everyone moved to the Summit at 280&459

Sounds like a case of disrespect gone wrong in the food court

Sigh…

Ehh for sure the bad parts of bham but Hoover has been going downhill as of late. It’s not what it once was. Of course mt brook, Homewood and vestavia are still good places

Still plenty of nice parts of Hoover - it’s huge as far as suburbs go (about as many people as Mountain Brook, Vestavia, and Homewood combined). It definitely was overbuilt in some areas and the growth in Shelby County has probably been somewhat at the expense of Hoover, but much of Hoover is a nice place to live.

Wouldn’t step foot in that mall, though.

I remember as a kid when malls where places that were civilized and normal and families and kids could safely go and have a good time.

Now anytime I ever go to mall(I only go if I absolutely have to, maybe once a year or less) its filled with bottom feeders and the dregs of society. So strange how most people you see in malls these days are people that are the least productive of our society.

This is at least the third shooting there in the last seven years.

It’s Birmingham metro’s version of the OK Corral.

This will probably be the nail in the coffin for that place. People tried to keep going after the first two but this will be the end of that.

Like most indoor malls it has a high level of cultural enrichment.

I’m old enough to remember when Century Palaza was in its prime in the 70s and 80s. By the early to mid-90s, “teens” were ruining it. By the end of the 90s, it was a straight up shithole. Nothing but pure subhuman ghetto trash would go there. All the good stores were gone, replaced with “ethnic” and “urban” shops full of counterfeit gaudy garbage that no self-respecting person would wear. Of course the subhuman ghetto trashed loved it. The mall itself closed in the early 2000s. When that happened, the subhuman ghetto trash moved to the Galleria. Since about 2015ish, it’s been in a downward spiral.

There are, but even some of those are problematic. If you are in Greystone or up on top of Bluff Park, cool and good to go.

But in a place like Riverchase, in the back of the subdivision, there are super nice neighborhoods with $1MM+ houses, country club, etc. But, there is only one way out of the subdivision and it puts you right into the apartment, mall, retail area. So even though you neighborhood is great, your area of local shopping whatever is going downhill.

An area that shocked me was Liberty Park in Vestavia. Nice high $$$ home neighborhoods, planned community and I was over there visiting someone about a year ago and they were building these massive apartment buildings right next to the neighborhoods. Person I talked to said everyone over there was very pissed off.

Not disagreeing with you, but have you been to West Homewood or Green Springs/Oxmoor. Hoover’s bad part is also confined to Lorna Road area

Preferably at the low income apartments or any sketchy gas station that taxpayers don’t frequent.
