re: Louisiana during the Wild West days?
Posted by FAT SEXY on 7/7/26 at 2:20 am to Ghost of Colby
I went down a rabbit hole tonight and discovered this:
Texas outlaw Wild Bill Longley was captured by Nacogdoches County Sheriff Milton Mast on June 6, 1877.
He was hiding out under an alias on a secluded farm in DeSoto Parish, Louisiana, where authorities took him completely by surprise without a struggle. He was then returned to Texas to stand trial for murder.

Louisiana during the Wild West days?

Usually when people discuss the Wild West they talk about the Great Plains Region and the Southwest
Were there any notorious outlaws that primarily operated in Louisiana during that time? Any notable Gun Battles?
TIA to the TD Historians

It's just a thread for HOF guys that went to smaller colleges. I know there's a lot of nuance to these things. I agree with your points

This thread essentially assumes players are born as great players..
"Maybe he flourished late"
Already covered that with one simple sentence in the OP, playa
HOF level players that slipped through the cracks in big time college recruiting?

I'm mostly thinking football in the OP, but you can apply it to any sport if you want.
John Randle: Came out of Mumford/Hearne, TX.. I'm not sure if he was recruited by UT, TAMU or TTU etc. Maybe it was a grades thing? Maybe he flourished late?.. either way, he ended up at Trinity Valley Community College (86-87) and then transferred to Texas A&I
Special NFL player that played in the smaller arenas during his formative years

re: Silver Bugs thread: Silver up 12% for the week on Black Friday started the journey

They definitely might trade sideways for a minute.
Hell, I built the bulk of my stack when it was trading sideways for a decade.
The difference between then and now though: Silver is in a structural deficit
It's not as easy these days for the bullion banks to tamp the price for extended periods via the paper market. Nations and the Corporations that need it will just load up on physical at the suppressed price.

I probably shouldn't have put that disclaimer in the OP and instead just left it at my simple questions.
Grats on latching onto the low hanging fruit though. You really added a lot to the discussion.
Military Baws, how do you gauge "morality" when deployed to a combat zone?

Do/Did you question the motives of those that sent you there?
Was it engrained into you that's it's simply your duty?
Was there ever a particular battle or overall war that you've looked at differently with the benefit of hindsight?
I'm not trying to be inflammatory.. no ulterior motives here.. I'm just curious

Ya, I made the OP too quickly and left my flank open
Baton Rouge doesn't count because it wasn't an American settlement in the 1700s (France & Spain mostly)
It also had like 4 different names during this time
