HOOVER: From one of our Skywwatchers who monitors scanner traffic: “Hoover is responding to the Riverchase Galleria in the food court on a shooting. Shooter still on the scene”.

Last time I was in that mall it sort of reminded me of the Mall of LA clientele changes over the years.

That place used to be so nice. This might be the one that ruins it.

There was an shooting inside the mall a few years back that really started it. It was never the same.

Lots of sketchy stores in there now, like you see in every declining mall.

At some point it was the largest mall in Alabama. May still be. With Patton Creek going down the tubes right next to it, the heart of hoover is a wasteland.

Nicest mall I had ever been to..... In 1988.

Not now. Not even close

I’m going to guess the shooter/victims will fit a demographic that drops this out of the news cycle quickly.

Birmingham or Hoover? Pretty sure Hoover is way nicer than Birmingham. At least it used to be.

Hoover doesn't even touch B'ham city limits in most places. Vestavia and Homewood are in between.

I used to work in all of those areas ten years ago and back then they were all so much nicer than Birmingham itself.

I never go to the mall. Ever. I had to go to one of the stores there several years back and I walk up and pull the door and it’s locked. I look up and there is a sign saying the mall is closed due to a shooting. That was my one and only attempt to visit Riverchase.
