It’s mind blowing how many nice areas get ruined by apartments being built nearby. It’s like nobody on the local government level can think out beyond 5 years to think about what these big apartment buildings are going to turn into.

In the main central part of vestavia I can only think of one apartment complex thankfully. They've done a good job of keeping that in check. Hoover is chock full overrun with them which is why they have so many of the problems they have. It's also why whenever people talk about Hoover High School the first thing people mention (besides the sports) is how great the diversity is rather than ya know the actual academics.

well by the definition of Birmingham area, they all are - but I was not equating them at all - I was just saying i had lived in those areas, so I wasn't just saying things to say them 0 I lived in all those areas over a 25 year span.

Bessemer.....yeah, I acknowledge my mistake there - but even living in the 280 area near Greystone, there was shootings, hell even a fricking bank robbery - all within the last 10 years or so - and prior to that nothing ever happened out there but wrecks during rush hour.

I'm old enough to remember when Cortana was the good mall and the ghetto birds went to Bon Marche. Cortana was the shite in the 80's and early 90's. I can still smell the corn dog place and threw many a penny into that fountain. Christmas time was the best when the whole place was decorated, the school choirs would be there, and Santa. The place would be packed, but people were generally in a good mood. Those days are long gone.

Same here. The old Cortana during Xmas was packed. You could barely find a parking spot on Saturdays. The corn dog stand had some badass lemonade too. I loved going in the toy store down by Sears. Fun times.

Ditto
Grew up in Sherwood Forest subdivision and my very conservative parents had no problem dropping me and my friends off at Cortana Mall with cash and credit cards for a full day of fun. Nothing to worry about.
Those days ended thanks to Judge John V Parker and a certain demographic that is incapable of playing well with others

I’ve lives in EBRP my entire life. The list of places that have been absolutely destroyed by blacks is a mile long. I’ve watched EBRP slowly die.

Two things EBRP has going for it. The Capital and LSU.

LSU is now finally on the chopping block. The tipping point has already happened or is close. Kinda surprised it has lasted this long.

LSU culture is degrading.

Okay, here is your violent crime rate in Hoover. Let’s not exaggerate too much. I don’t even lock my car half the time I’m at a place off 280.

Violent Crime Rate: Low at approximately 0.77 to 0.99 per 1,000 residents (chance of becoming a victim is roughly 1 in 1,292), well below the U.S. average

Pretty amazing for a city of 100,000 people in a major metropolitan area.

Our paths have crossed
You hate to give up on what you grew up with and love but I had no choice
I escaped EBR and relocated to Livingston Parish seven years ago
It's so quiet here...anxiety level is "0"
I do have to battle black gangs around the ponds behind my house but they're gangs of black crows raiding the soft shell turtles nests full of eggs

Children’s Palace?

That place was freakin’ awesome.

Or inside the mall? Probably KB.
