Having been to both the Galleria and Mall of LA it’s the same story.

Last time I went in I was 100% sure it was the last time I would go within 5 minutes of walking in the door.

we ended up staying at that hotel attached to the mall because we came up a day early for a weekend trip to RTJ Ross Bridge.

walked the mall, since it was right there, and the skunk weed in there was just too much. place was a complete shithole.

lol

There are plenty of this element in Hoover already, and this literal exact scenario has happened not all that long ago.

Its to the point where you need two of everything. Like when Cortana was still open. That's where the ghetto birds went. Movie theaters. In Baton Rouge at least, it used to be that when a new one opened, the ghetto birds all migrated to the 2nd best theater while everyone else would go to the newest place.

That's the only way people can have something nice. There needs to be places for that element to go, but then they become a liability so the places they do go to end up closing as well.

And law enforcement can't police like they used to because departments don't want to risk getting sued so there is a lax in policing, which allows a certain element to be out and unchecked. But hey.. At least no one feels like they are being harrassed because of their race.

I always thought Hoover was its own city adjacent to Birmingham aka a suburb

Not disagreeing with you, but have you been to West Homewood or Green Springs/Oxmoor

West Homewood is fine. There is a small pocket north of Oxmoor along Green Springs that is fairly hood, but the neighborhood around Patriot Park and south of there is good. The rest of it along w Oxmoor rd is mainly industrial.

depending on where specifically, the "birmignham area" is an incredibly nice place to live and raise a family. I live here and wouldn't think fo going back to the "Altanta area" we came from.

I'm old enough to remember when Cortana was the good mall and the ghetto birds went to Bon Marche. Cortana was the shite in the 80's and early 90's. I can still smell the corn dog place and threw many a penny into that fountain. Christmas time was the best when the whole place was decorated, the school choirs would be there, and Santa. The place would be packed, but people were generally in a good mood. Those days are long gone.

they were building these massive apartment buildings right next to the neighborhoods. Person I talked to said everyone over there was very pissed off.

It’s mind blowing how many nice areas get ruined by apartments being built nearby. It’s like nobody on the local government level can think out beyond 5 years to think about what these big apartment buildings are going to turn into.
People generally don’t want cheap(or low income) apartment built nearby them but it keeps happening.

I dunno - there are nicer areas around the Bham area, but int he last 10 to 15 years, even those areas have started having way more shite happening there that never did before - shootings, robberies and the like - just seemed to start going downhill all over there.

I lived in Hoover, out the 280 way near Greystone, and the most recent was in Bessemer - which yeah I know, it was a nicer area, but that isn't saying much.

An area that shocked me was Liberty Park in Vestavia

it's weird to me that LP even is vestavia. Going from, for example, the sicard hollow ballfields over to the wald park area feels like going on a trip to whole different city/county practically.

dude....

I know you at least acknowledged it yourself, but I mean yeah I think anyone would be wise to go from bessemer to..well, anywhere else lol. Equating Hoover/vestavia/MB/et al and bessemer all being "birmingham area" can lead to a bit of confusion.

Zoning is crazy here. Hoover is the same. There is the side of Hoover with Riverchase then the other part of Hoover off 280. Not close together and just connected by a strip down Valleydale Road.
