I think The Galleria still hosts lots of med school/dental school related seminars etc . I don't think there are many alternatives that can handle the people. maybe? I haven't lived there since '94 but wife has to go just about every year to Galleria for some kind of seminar.

The Galleria used to be a nice mall. It has suffered the fate of so many malls around the country. Time to just tear it all down.

Tearing down building bc cultcha congregates there does nothing except move the cultcha elsewhere.

Last time I was in that mall it sort of reminded me of the Mall of LA clientele changes over the years.

Having been to both the Galleria and Mall of LA it’s the same story.

Last time I went in I was 100% sure it was the last time I would go within 5 minutes of walking in the door.

The Galleria has a Hyatt Regency hotel that’s attached to it. No idea what it’s like now, but 20 years ago it was top-notch. They used to offer a New Year’s Eve party package that included a room, dinner (it has, or had, a nice restaurant), drink tickets, etc. We went once with some friends, I think it was around 2001-2002, and had a really good time.

I’m sure that’s been ruined by the usual suspects as well.

This will give the city a black eye. I hope Greg Sankey wasn’t visiting to pick up nice Christmas presents for Will Wade and Lane Kiffin.

Yep. My wife is from the Birmingham area. Last time we went was maybe 5-6 years ago and I was pretty surprised as it had been a long time. Same thing has happened to Mall of LA.

I think maybe Dick's House of Sport does OK, but the rest of the Mall of LA is a shell of what it once was.

When you go in the mall and all the stores are sneaker and hat stores and stores like Rainbow and CiCis fashions, and all the kiosks are shady looking Persian guys selling cheap knock off jewry and perfume, yep, you know what's happening.

Yep. Just across Hwy 78 from Century Plaza, not quite directly across the highway, but close enough. Back in the 80s, that’s where the TicketMaster window was at. We’d go there and buy our concert tickets for whoever was coming in concert then we’d go and hang out at Century Plaza.
