That’s good to know. Gumps or not, there are some really good people in those areas.

The Galleria used to be a nice mall. It has suffered the fate of so many malls around the country. Time to just tear it all down.

They can’t resist the urge to start shooting in a food court.

Birmingham or Hoover? Pretty sure Hoover is way nicer than Birmingham. At least it used to be.

Ehh for sure the bad parts of bham but Hoover has been going downhill as of late. It’s not what it once was. Of course mt brook, Homewood and vestavia are still good places

Per AL-COM just now: “ A fight in the Riverchase Galleria food court Friday afternoon led to one person being shot.

The victim was taken to a hospital with what appears to be a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, police said.”

Once again, I think this is going to be a clear case of someone being disrespected.

Hoover got too big and allowed too many apartment complexes. But its police department is good and they solve crimes. These criminals probably came in from Bham or Bessemer.

People used to say that online shopping was killing malls. No, it’s the thugs and thugettes that stalk these establishments and ruin the experience for those that actually purchase goods and services there. They ruin everything.

Our Church Youth Group used to take a 3 night trip there during Christmas Holidays every year for shopping and fellowship. Kids were out of school for Xmas break and it was a way to help out parents with childcare. I heard they stopped doing that trip about 20 years back due to crowd concerns at the Galleria.

Nicest mall I had ever been to

Same.

When I was a child and my parents told me we were heading down I-20 to visit the Galleria, I couldn't tell you how excited I was. It put our local mall to shame. Walking around the Galleria at Christmas time in the 1990s was a magical time.

Very fond childhood memories of the Galleria at Christmastime in the 1990s.

My kids still like going there to ride the carousel, go the arcade place, and Build-A-Bear. Seemed to me like the demographics had shifted a bit more favorably in the last few years, but it's still a shell of what it used to be.
